John F. Belscher, 84, of Springville, died Jan. 7 in Gulfport, Fla. He was born May 4, 1928 in Springville to Albert and Anna (nee Cassidy) Belscher. He had been a trucker for a Buffalo company, spent time with his family, fished and hunted.
He was the husband of Letha (nee Smith) Belscher; father of Jim (Kathy) of Springville, Russ (Barb) of Springville and Joe (Barb) Belscher of West Valley; brother of Sandy Valentine of Gulfport; grandfather of six grandchildren; great-grandfather of nine great-grandchildren and great-great-grandfather of one great-great-grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, from St. Aloysius Church of Springville. The Rev. Lawrence Cobel will officiate. Burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery of Springville.

Sadie (nee Beers) Bowser, 76, of Springville, died at her home on Jan. 23.
She was the wife of Donald Bowser Sr.; mother of Pamela (Thomas) Malone of Austin, Texas; Donald Bowser Jr. of Phoenix; Robert (Tami) Bowser of Phoenix; Karen (Love) McNeil of Phoenix and Laurie (Armond) Lawson of Phoenix; sister of Jim (Josette) Beers of Pennsylvania and the late Frank Beers; also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Jan. 27 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main St., Springville, where a memorial service will be held at 4. Ted Adams will officiate. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery

David Paul “Woody” Golabek of Boston died Jan. 1.
He was the son of the late Matthew and Joyce Golabek; brother of Matthew (Janet), Christine (John) Boundy, James, Joan (Jeff) Willett, Elaine (Ken) Taylor, Kenneth (Cheryl), Jeanette (Rick) Stinson and the late Bruce (Betty) Golabek; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
David served in the United States Navy and Army, was a member of the Concord American Legion Post 431 of Springville, had been employed at Fisher Price for 21 years and was a bugler in the Revel Aires Drum Corps. A Mass of Christian Burial was held from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Boston on Jan. 5.

Jean Ruth Sarver, 85, died Jan. 23 at Absolut of Aurora Park.
She was the wife of the late Floyd Sarver; mother of the late Richard (late Karen) Sarver, the late Ronald and the late Roger Sarver; mother-in-law of Joan and Darlene Sarver; also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister of Earl Thomas and the late Floyd Thomas and Helen Morgan.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. from the Assembly of God Church of Springville.

Joyce M. (nee Booth) Welsted, 72, of Springville, died Jan. 18 at her home.
She was born July 13, 1940 in Buffalo to the late Elbert and Dorothy (nee Abraham) Booth.
She was a dispatch and bus aide for Royal Transport Services, was a Springville Trading Post volunteer, read and gardened.
She was the wife of Arthur Welsted; mother of Kelly Booth of Gowanda and Jody (Joseph) Duda of Eden; grandmother of Angel, Dakota, Jake and Joshua; great-grandmother of Brayden, Kaylin and Jada; sister of William Booth, Herbert Booth, Donna Hamilton, Myra Moxham, Barbara Dunkleman, Robert Booth and the late Elbert Booth, Mary Jane Northrup and Jeffrey Booth.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, which is located at 271 East Main St. in Springville.
William WidrigWilliam Widrig
William Lynn Widrig, 74, of West Valley, died Jan. 20 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
He was born in Springville on March 12, 1938 to the late William and Rhoda (nee Bernhoft) Widrig.
Widrig spent 50 of his years surveying. For 40 years, he was employed at Local 17 operating engineers of Buffalo. He rode snowmobiles, traveled, spent time with friends and family members and spent his Sundays watching NASCAR.
He was the father of Christopher (Amber) Widrig of West Valley and Jessica (Jesse) Frank of Franklinville; grandfather of Logan, Blake and Olivia Frank; boyfriend of Donna McVaugh of West Valley; brother of Dennis (Donna) Widrig of West Valley, Diane (Dell) Colf of West Valley, Elaine (Bob) Buck of Phoenix and the late Sharon Cross, Wayne and Norbert Widrig; brother-in-law of Gloria Widrig of West Valley; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held on Jan 25. The Rev. Dave Bevington of Riceville Community Church officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in West Valley. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Blount Library, located at 5 North Main St. Franklinville.
