Obituaries for June 21, 2012

Peter Foley

Funeral services were held on Wednesday (June 13) in the Bronx for Peter Foley, 55, of the Bronx, formerly of Hamburg, who died on Saturday, June 9, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Gerardine “Ger” Cox; parents, J. Peter and Renee Foley; siblings, Brian (Patti Springer), Lauren (Keith Kuczka), Paul, Renee (Lucian Ferbet) and Joseph (Mary Kay O’Mara); nephews and nieces.

Mr. Foley was a director of bargaining unit protection, line equipment chair and executive board member of the NYS Transit Workers Local 100 and was considered to be a fearless fighter for their rights, never in a divisive manner and a battler for peace and justice wherever those struggles were raging.

He was one of the first transit workers to respond at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, and spent weeks on the pile in the rescue and recovery effort.

Toni A. Fleming

Funeral services were held on Thursday (June 14) from the Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home for Toni A. (Gilmore) Fleming, of Hamburg, who died on Monday, June 11, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Tara (Andy) Kaufman, Tammy (Rick) Marini, Thomas Jr. and Todd Fleming; siblings, Tammy (Jeff) Winiecki, Terry and Thomas Jr. (Candy) Gilmore; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Theresa and Thomas Gilmore Sr. and her brother, Tim Gilmore.

Mrs. Fleming was an employee of Contract Specialists Inc. at the McKinley Mall and a proud member of SEIU Local 200.

Arrangements were made through Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home.

Patrick A. Trinkley

Funeral services were held on Saturday (June 16) from the St. Augustine’s Church, Baldwinsville for Patrick A. Trinkley (86), of Baldwinsville, formerly of Hamburg, who died on June 13, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anita R. (Clark) Trinkley; his children, Joyce (Michael) Trinkley-Wolfson and Patrick A. Trinkley; and grandchildren, Christian Trinkley, Michelle, John and Elizabeth Wolfson.

Mr. Trinkley was born in Heilwood, Pa., and lived in Hamburg for 50 years and Baldwinsville for the past seven years.

He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Buffalo after 32 and a half years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a communicant of SS. Peter and Paul and St. Augustines Church.

Burial is at Prospect Lawn Cemetery in Hamburg.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Arrangements were made through the Falardeau Funeral Home.

Ronald J. Rieger

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday (June 16) from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Ronald J. Rieger, of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Snyder) Rieger; siblings, Carol (William) McLachlan and Donald (Sharon) Rieger; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo.

Arrangements were made through Loomis, Offers and Loomis.

Elsie DeLair

Funeral services were held on Friday (June 15) from Southtowns Christian Center for Elsie (Holthoff) DeLair, of Derby, who died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, James W. DeLair; her children, James J. and Michael C. (Denise) DeLair; siblings, Elaine Crowell and Judith Holthoff; grandchildren, Christopher (Samantha) Ridgeway, Ryan and Heather DeLair; great-granddaughter, Kaylyn Rose; many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Mrs. DeLair was a nurse for 51 years, the majority of this time spent at Our Lady of Victory Hospital.

She recently retired from Southtowns Christian Center, where she had been a member since its inception. She was considered an inspiration to all who crossed her path, and was God’s good and faithful servant.

Interment is in Lakeside Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Foundation of WNY, Roswell Park Cancer Institute Ovarian Cancer Research or Southtowns Christian Center.

Eunice Adams

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday (June 9) from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Eunice M. (Feldman) Adams, of Hamburg, who died on Thursday, June 7, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Malczewski; siblings, Audrey Gibbs, Marion Ortel, Donald and Ronald Feldman; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Adams was predeceased by her son, Paul Adams.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc.

Ronald A. Palmer

Funeral services were held on Thursday (June 14) from the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home for Ronald A. Palmer, 47, of Lake View, who died on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

He is survived by his parents, John and Marie Palmer; his children, Anthony and John Bollinger; brother, Robert Palmer; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Palmer was an independent flooring contractor.

Jane I. Grzybowski


Funeral services were held on Saturday (June 16) from the Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Jane (Oszust) Grzybowski, of Blasdell, who died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen Chartier, Sheree (Denis) Lates and Jeanne (Jack) Craig; grandchildren, Jilliana (Dave) Wasiura, Jason (Gretchen) and Joshua (Sarah) Craig, and Deanna, Denis and Darcie Lates; great grand-children, Hannah, Samual, Skylar, Maria, Noah, Jacob, Caleb and Benjamin.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard R. Grzybowski.

Mrs. Grzybowski was a member of OMGC Choir and Catholic Daughters.

Entombment is in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Rita J. Brooks

Funeral services were held on Friday (June 15) at the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation for Rita Joan Brooks, 72, of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, who died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Kevin (Elaine) Brooks and Albert Longboat; siblings, Geraldine Jamieson, Shelia Cooper and David Brooks Jr.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made through Wentland Funeral Home.

John O’Donnell, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21 from Holy Cross Lutheran Church for John J. O’Donnell, Jr., 72, of Angola, who died on Sunday, June 17, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Ann (Argauer) O’Donnell; his son, Raymond P. O’Donnell and sister Helen Burke.

Mr. O’Donnell was predeceased by his son, John A. O’Donnell and sisters “Betty” Connoly and “Laurie” Felschow.

He retired after 37 years of service as a chief cable splice with Niagara Mohawk and was an active volunteer with Claddagh Commission, Inc.
