Margaret A. Olek

A funeral service was held from Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home on Friday (March 1) for Margaret A. “Gee-Ann” (Birbeck) Olek, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.

She is survived by her daughters, Robin Wheeler and Stacey (Tony) Rotino; sisters, Barbara, Mary and Laura; grandchildren, Stephen, Candance, Anjelina and Alexander and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the SPCA.



Julia I. Fulsom

A memorial service will be held from Southtowns Christian Center on Saturday (March 9) at 10 a.m. for Julia I. (Danch) Fulsom, 94, of Blasdell, who died on Sunday, March 3, 2013.

She is survived by her son, Herbert D. (Paula) Fulsom; sisters, Eleanor (late Paul) Mazur and Betty (Lojos) Asboth; grandchildren, Lisa Robertson, Scott R. (Kelly Dawn) and Robert W. (Paula); great-grandchildren, Dillon, Lindsay Robinson, Logan Robertson, Jordan, Aiden and William; sister-in-law, Doreen (William) Dorge and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Mrs. Fulsom was predeceased by her husband, Herbert J. Fulsom; parents, Frank and Eleanor Danch; siblings, Frank Danch, Helen Danch, Vilma (late Walter) Pawlas, Margaret (late John) Martinage, Joseph (late Hilda) Danch, Louis (late Irene) Danch and Bela Danch and sister-in-law, Marge (late Jack) Atkinson.

She was a homemaker.

Memorials may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Rita M. Tully


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Francis of Assisi Church on Thursday (March 7) at 9:30 a.m. for Rita M. (Guzinski) Tully, of Hamburg, who died on Sunday, March 3, 2013.

She is survived by her husband, Richard S. Tully; cousins, Alice (Raymond) Sieber, Kathleen (Stephen) Wilson, Ellen (David) Franco, Amy (David) Lipniorski and Jason (Blair) Sieber; goddaughter, Susan (Joel) Martin; sister-in-law, Lucy (late John) Tully; nieces, Phyllis (Richard) Fasano and Mary (late Peter) Cataudella and many other family members.

Mrs. Tully was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Phyllis Guzinski.

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Sharon Marie Klimeczko

A Mass of Christian Burial was held from Most Precious Blood Church on Tuesday (March 5) for Sharon Marie Klimeczko. of Angola, who died on Friday, March 1, 2013.

She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Eliza (Baranek) Klimeczko; sisters, Christine (James) Spengler and Anne (Eric) Putnam; nieces, Danielle, Jacqueline Spengler, Kiersten and Chelsea Putnam and many aunts, uncles, cousins and Claddagh family.

Ira M. Chatley


A Mass of Christian Burial was held from SS. Peter and Paul Church on Wednesday (March 6) for Ira M. “Ike” Chatley, 89, of Hamburg, who died on Friday, March 1, 2013.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Amy (Wilson) Chatley; daughter, Joy (Jeff) Brown; siblings, Ella (late Aubrey) Reger, Agnes (Walter) Kiriloff, Shirley (late Ronald) Schumer and Walter (late Elide) and George (Nancy, late Gail) Chatley; grandson, Jeffrey W. Brown; sister-in-law, Norma Chatley and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Chatley was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Irene Chatley and siblings, Francis (Mary and Ruth), Robert (Betsy and Margaret) Chatley, Isabelle (Eugene) Schoetz and John and Rita Chatley.

He was a well-know residential house painter in Hamburg. Music was his passion, and over his lifetime he led many others to make it their passion as well. He initially joined the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department Drum Corps. which later became the Hamburg Kingsmen. He served as a drum major in the corps for many years. He was also a member of the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department Cadence Corps.

For many years, he taught the Lakeshorettes Girls’ Drum Corps and the North Evans Ladies’ Drum Corps Rhythmettes. He was also president of the NYPENN Judging Association and a member of the Town of Hamburg Building Board.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Hamburg Council 2220, Herbert E. Shero Post 517 VFW, American Legion Post 527 and a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 225 Como Park Blvd., Buffalo, N.Y. 14227.

Final resting place was in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Arrangements were made through the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home.

Mabel L. Kaiser

Private burial at the convenience of the family will be held for Mabel L. Kaiser, of Hamburg, who died on Friday, March 1, 2013.

She is survived by her children, Suzanne (Roderick) Bushnell and Michael E. Kaiser and grandson, Arlo P. Bushnell.

Mrs. Kaiser was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Kaiser.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo.

Sophie H. Jaworski


Funeral services will be held from John J. Kaczor Funeral Home on Monday (March 11) at 10 a.m. for Sophie H. (Osypian) Jaworski, 93, of Blasdell, who died on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Richard) Slater, Janice Stay and Louise (Deryl) Johnson; brothers, Stanley (late Nancy) Kinaszewic, Thomas (late Mary) and Fred (Shirley) Osypian; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jaworski was predeceased by her husband, Chester Jaworski and son, Chester (Mary) Jaworski.

She was a retired clerk from Hens and Kelly’s Department Store.

Family will be present to receive friends on Sunday, March 10 at John J. Kaczor Funeral Home from 1 to 5 p.m.

Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Margaret Flower

A Mass of Christian Burial was held from SS. Peter and Paul Church on Monday (March 4) for Margaret “Audrey” (Fallon) Flower, of North Evans, who died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (William) McLaughlin, Kathleen (Howard) Truby, Patricia (James) Ellis and Michael (Marcia) Flower; sister, Shirley (late Raymond) Beale; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Flower was predeceased by her husband, George N. Flower Jr.; daughter, Debra Rowlands and siblings, Geraldine Emerling, Virginia and William (Mary Jane) Fallon.

Arrangements were made through the Latimore-Schiavone Funeral Home.

Helen M. Brauch


A Mass of Christian Burial was held from SS. Peter and Paul Church on Monday (March 4) for Helen M. (Kenney) Brauch, 86, of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

She is survived by her son, David (Barbara) Brauch; sister, Catherine (Edward) Connors; sister-in-law, Sylvia (Theodore) Toense and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brauch was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Brauch; parents, John and Mary (Shea) Kenney; son, Donald R. Brauch; siblings, James (late Dolores) Kenney and Margaret Munisteri and brother-in-law, Arthur (late Patricia) Brauch.

She was a teller at Marine Midland Bank in Lackawanna.

Memorials may be made to the Mercy Skilled Nursing Facility at OLV, 55 Melroy, Lackawanna, N.Y. 14218.

Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Arrangements were made through the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home.

Margaret S. Chowaniec


A Mass of Christian Burial was held from Blessed John Paul II Parish on Saturday (March 2) for Margaret S. “Peg” (Buhr) Chowaniec, 85, of Derby, who died on Sunday, February 24, 2013.

She is survived by her children, James (Marlene) Chowaniec and Diane (Mike) Dobnack; niece and nephew, Ann MacPeek-Gerhard and John (Peg) MacPeek; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Chowaniec was predeceased by her husband, Eugene H. Chowaniec; son, Thomas (Valerie) Chowaniec; siblings, Anna Gilbert and Marion MacPeek and niece and nephew, Ellen (George) Phillips and Charles MacPeek.

Interment was in Bath National Cemetery.

Arrangements were made through the Addison Funeral Home.

Francis E. Rojek

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Epiphany of Our Lord Church on Thursday (March 7) at 10 a.m. for Francis E. Rojek. 83, of North Collins, who died on Monday, March 4, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Jean (Newland) Rojek; daughters, Victoria (Clarence) Talbot, Debra (Nelson) Nirelli, Clifford (Rose) Rojek, Ann Schultz and Ellen (Ronald) Schmitz; brothers, Adalbert (Theresa) and Leonard Rojek; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rojek was a member of North Collins American Legion Post 1640, North Collins Senior Citizens and a retiree from Republic Steel.

Burial will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in New Oregon.

Arrangements were made through the Latimore-Schiavone Funeral Home.
