Lockport obits for the week of Aug. 20

DENCKER, Ruth Kelsey passed away Aug. 15, 2013 in Briody Health Care Facility.

Born in Corning on Dec. 7, 1921, she was the daughter of Earl H. and Nellie E. (Bucher) Gleason. Ruth graduated from Northside High School, Corning Class of 1939 and went onto to the Rochester Dental Dispensary, School for Dental Hygienists, Rochester, Class of 1941.

She worked as a dental hygienist in the Buffalo and Lockport areas for several years prior to raising her family.

Ruth enjoyed camping and boating for years on the St. Lawrence River with her three boys and late husband Dr. Harold Kelsey.

She also enjoyed summer living in the Adirondacks with her late husband Hans Dencker and their Seventh Lake Camp and being a snow bird with him during the winter months in Florida.

Ruth enjoyed traveled with her Hans Dencker to Cancun, Germany, London, Swiss Alps and the Canadian Rockies.

She will always be remembered as being a loving mother, wife and bringing the families together for holiday celebrations.

Ruth was predeceased by her husbandís, Dr. Harold D. Kelsey in 1964, whom she married in 1942 and Hans W. Dencker in 2007, whom she married in 1971.

Ruth is survived by her three sons, Gary (Ginnia) Kelsey, Stephen (Susan) Kelsey and David (Susan) Kelsey; grandson of Joel (Meredith) Kelsey; step-mother of David (Nancy) Dencker, Janet (late Sanford) Smith, Karen (Tom) Manion and Diane (Terry) Cope; also survived by several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials to the National MS Society, Upstate New York Chapter, Donor Relations Center, 1650 South Ave., Suite 100, Rochester, N.Y. 14620-3901, would be appreciated by the family.

COOGAN, Doris R. passed away Aug. 18, 2013 in Absolut of Gasport.

Born on Aug. 11, 1921 in Rochester she was the daughter of George and Frances (Thompson) Mosher.

Doris was predeceased by her husband, Robert Coogan.

She is survived by her two sons, Joel (Nancy) Grundy of Olcott and James (Karen) Grundy of Lockport; grandmother of Glenn (Joanne Vining) Grundy, Tracy (Chip) Childers, Jennifer Schmidt, Brian Grundy and Joel Grundy; great-grandmother of Casey Covell, Madalin Schmidt and Zander Childers; sister of Duane (Karyn) Mosher of Texas and the late Homer and Frank Mosher; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.

FARWELL, Louise passed away Aug. 14, 2013 in Lancaster.

Born in Pawtucket, R.I. on Feb. 1, 1924, she was the daughter of Cecil and Lena (Hersey) Smith.

Louise attended Scio United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and gardening.

Besides her parents, Louise was also predeceased by her husband, Murray E. Farwell in 1996; her sister, Ruth Morrison; and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Farwell.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Farwell of Lancaster, Delia (Gregory) Kern of Lockport and Diane (Lowell) Davis of Portland, Ore.; grandmother of Phil, Seth (Jennifer), Daniel (Jennifer), Brad, Loren, Andrew and Anna; great-grandmother of Samantha; sister of Alfred (Louise) Smith of Sayre, Penn.; sister-in-law of George Morrison of Pawtucket, R.I.; also several nieces and nephews.
