Richard Charlap of Hamburg died Dec. 4.
He was the husband of Marie (nee Grzybek) Charlap; father of Richard (Karen), Michael and Victor (Lydia) (late Lisa) Charlap; grandfather of Theodore, Gavin, Ryan, Justin, Christian and Brycen Charlap; brother of Henry (late Esther) Charlap and Irene (Louis) Fronczak; also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home’s Hamburg Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial was held from Our Lady of Victory Basilica. Interment was in Lakeside Memorial Cemetery.

Richard MackeyDonald Crowe
Donald Crowe, 82, died Dec. 3.
He was born Feb. 1, 1931 to the late Raymond and Helen Crowe.
He was a parishioner and eucharistic minister of the Immaculate Conception Church, where he also served on committees. He was a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Eden Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8265 and the American Legion Newell-Faulkner Post No. 880. He worked at Buffalo Crushed Stone and belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 17, for 40 years. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Navy SeaBees Construction Battalion.
His first wife Natalie (nee Ferringer) died Dec. 28, 1991. He then married Kathleen (nee Mills) on Nov. 25, 1995.
He was the father of Donald (Mary Jo), David (Janine), Richard (Mary) Crowe, Karen (Jeff) Waldorf, Jim (Jennifer) Crowe, Patricia (Andy) Hochworter and the late Thomas Crowe; father-in-law of Sharon (Ed) Crowe; stepfather of Mary Beth (Randy) Klumpp, Jeffery (Wendy) Castle and Elaine (Isaac) McCreary; brother of the late Raymond, Dolores Crowe and Joan (Lawrence) Froelich. He was survived by 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was held Dec. 7 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Eden.

Albert Edel, 81, of Hamburg died Dec. 4.
He was a retired engineer from New York Telephone. He was a longtime member of the Lakeshore Goodfellow’s Club and a United States Air Force veteran.
He was the husband of Judith (nee Abdo) Edel; father of Karen (Richard) Steffen, Francis (Wendy) and William (Colleen) Edel; grandfather of Jarrett, Quentin, Hannah, Nicholas, Zack, Ashley and Madison; predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation and a funeral service were held from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home. Entombment followed, in Lakeside Memorial Cemetery.

Beverly (nee Barber) Geisel of Hamburg died Dec. 5.
She was a member of the Hamburg Golf Club.
She was the wife of George; mother of Mark (Laura); grandmother of Brendan, Kevin and Eric; daughter of the late Raymond and Lena (nee Doyle) Barber; sister of the late Robert (Debbie); also survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 10 from the Colonial Memorials Chapels Inc. in Lackawanna and from Saint Mary of the Lake Church.

Richard Mackey, 60, of Hampton, Va., formerly of North Collins, died Nov. 23.
He retired as a chief petty officer with 20 years of service in the United States Navy. He then worked at ATE Fixture Fab, Diamond Goodson and Northern Tools; he retired from SiTech.
He was the son of Margaret and the late Donald Mackey; husband of Karen Mackey; father of Sara Mackey Dunn and Tim Mackey; stepfather of Andrew and Stacy Wedding; grandfather of 12; brother of Donald, Michael Mackey and Sandy Pattison.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Church in North Collins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21. Arrangements were made by the Wentland Funeral Home of North Collins.Paul Schaefer
Paul Schaefer, 66, of Eden died at home on Dec. 1.
He was born Dec. 12 to the late Leonard and Catherine Schaefer.
He married Carolynn Filipiak on July 4, 1969 at Saint Vincent de Paul in Springbrook, N.Y. He taught at Lakeshore Central School in the industrial arts department, as well as in driver education. In 1969, he started a photo company, Hilltop Photo. He took wedding pictures, in addition to family portraits.
In 1998, he and his wife opened Eden Creative Sewing Center in Eden.
He was the husband of Carolynn; father of Todd (Kathryn), Scott (Colleen) and Michael (Jescie) Schaefer; brother of Neil (JoAnn) Schaefer; grandfather of seven; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from the Laing Funeral Home Inc. of Eden on Dec. 4. A Mass of Christian burial was held Dec. 5 from Immaculate Conception Church. Burial followed, in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Eden.
