Funeral services were held on Tuesday (May 22) from the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church for Norma (Mohn) Brason, of Orchard Park, who died on Friday, May 18, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Karen B. (Richard) Popson, Nanette B. (Peter) Horne, Frederick W. II (Karen) Chaplin, Laurie W. (Hugh) Siegner and David W. (Jessica), Todd W. (Kim) and Peter W. Brason; brother, Wallace (Ruth) Mohn; grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Rachel, Sara, Ted, Lindsey, Andrea, Robby, Eleanor, Madeleine, Ben, Sydney, Evan, William, Kurt and Wesley; great-grandchildren, Brayson and Harper; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Frederick Wells Brason; and brother, James (Marjorie) Mohn.
Mrs. Brason grew up on Mulberry Street in the Fruit Belt section of Buffalo. She graduated from the former Fosdick Masten High School.
Her life was dedicated to her husband, Ted, of 57 years, the many friends in the community and all that nature has to offer, including her geese, ducks, birds, deer and very special cats, Rambo, Tom, Jerry and Bogey.
Not a day went by without the piano and music fulfilling her life and those around her, providing many a song and singing at family gatherings.
She touched the lives of many and her smile and conversation will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on North Boston Road in Eden for Calvin Bley , 81, of Lake View, who died on Thursday, May 31, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Robinson) Bley; children, Marilyn Evans and Douglas, Donald (Cindy) and Kenneth Bley; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bley; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Carl and Paul (Winifred) Bley.
Mr. Bley was a member of VFW Post. No. 1419 and a retiree, after 34 years, from National Fuel Gas.

John W. Field
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday (June 2) from Blessed John Paul II Parish for John W. Field, who died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Field; children, Catherine Cox, Christine (Joseph) Sonnenberg, Cindy (Doug) Kauss and Loren (Dorothy) Field; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and Brian Shaw.
Mr. Field was a member of the 106th Field Artillery and served as a midshipman in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He was a member and treasurer of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a volunteer at Autistic Services.
He enjoyed 31 years of retirement from the Erie Lackawanna Railroad.
He was an avid golfer and a League Member at Hamburg Golf Course.
He was a gifted woodworker and enjoyed making items for family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday (June 4) from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Carl V. McGovern of Blasdell, who died on Thursday, May 31, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Helen M. (Dougherty) McGovern; children, Colleen and Sean (Marion) McGovern and Kathleen (David) Garby; and grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Shea, John, Mac and Mitchell.
He was predeceased by his grandsons, Connor and Sean.
Mr. McGovern was a proud U.S. Marine Corp veteran.
He was interred in Holy Cross Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter, Caryl (Vincent) Morreale; and grandchildren, Julia and Jordyn Morreale.
She retired in June 1987 as administrator of Special Services at Ocean Township High School in Ocean Township, N.J.
She will be laid to rest at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Wall, N.J. next to her beloved aunt, Mabel Turner.

She is survived by her parents, Michael and Kelly Schmidt; siblings, Tiffany, Robert, Clark and Tyler Schmidt; grandfather, James (late Gloria) Clark; aunts and uncles, Sharon (Dennis) Souter, Jim Clark, Eric and Kelly Patton and Nancy, William and Chris (Ellen) Schmidt; and many cousins.
Ashley was a junior at Lake Shore Central High School.

A funeral service was held on Friday (June 1) from Addison Funeral Home for Frederick Backert Sr., who died on Monday, May 28, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pfeffer) Backert; children, Patricia (Steve) Dragovic, Meredith (Ken) Ruggiero, Frederick Jr. and Richard (Sharon) Backert; siblings, Ruth (Mike) Russel, Virginia Tobin and William, Michael, Daniel, and Barbara Backert; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Karen Stearns.
