Lee B. Holdsworth

A Mass of Christian Burial was held from SS. Peter and Paul Church on Monday (Jan. 21) for Lee B. Holdsworth, of Hamburg, who died on Thursday, January 17, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Geiger) Holdsworth; children, Beth Ann (Mark) Pienta, Nancy (Kevin) Kowalczewski and Gregg Holdsworth; brother, Thomas (Terry) Holdsworth; grandchildren, Jordan, Michael, Lauren, Jacob, Molly, Nikolas, Julia, Brian, Daniel and Jeffrey; siblings-in-law, Patricia (Lawrence) Hartrich, Harold (Patricia) Geiger and Joanne (late Donald) Welchoff and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Holdsworth was predeceased by his brother, David Holdsworth.

Roger W. Nicol Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held from St. Mary’s of the Lake Church on Friday (Jan. 18) for Roger W. Nicol Sr., of Hamburg, who died on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

He is survived by his children, Nancy (Jerry) Snow and Donald (Margot) and Roger (Caroline) Nicol Jr.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Nicol was predeceased by his wife, Deloris K. (Kane) Nicol.

Memorials may be made to EWTN or the SPCA.

William M. Harding

A funeral service was held from Wentland Funeral Home on Friday (Jan. 18) for William M. Harding, 78, of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, who died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013.

He is survived by his children, Sandra and Cynthia Scott; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Mr. Harding was predeceased by his wife, Ann (Foster) Harding and brothers, Kenneth, Robert, George and Leland Harding.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 1587 and the Gowanda Masonic Lodge.

Gertrude B. Delmonte

A Mass of Christian Burial was held from St. Francis of Assisi Church on Friday (Jan. 18) for Gertrude B. (Kozaczka) Delmonte, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013.

She is survived by her children, Dennis and Kenneth (Deborah) Portka and Michael (Lyn) Delmonte; siblings, Leonard and Raymond (late Helen) Kozaczka and Antoinette (late Robert) Reiche; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Delmonte was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Delmonte and siblings, Chester (late Helen), Adam (late Jean) and Edmund Kozaczka, Eva (late Aloysius) Nowak and Martha (late Joseph) Palovich.

She was the proud owner of Coffatures by Gert Beauty Parlor in Hamburg for over 40 years.

Entombment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Arrangements were made through the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home.

Edward A. Van Etten

A funeral service was held from John J. Kaczor Funeral Home on Thursday (Jan. 17) for Edward A. Van Etten, of Lake View, who died on Monday, January 14, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy M. (Dziak) Van Etten; son, Edward J. Van Etten; parents, Dora (Miller) and Larry Van Etten and brother, Larry W. (Lisa) Van Etten Jr.

Mr. Van Etten was a member of IBEW Local No. 41.

Louis J. Tiburzi Sr.

A funeral service will be held from John J. Kaczor Funeral Home on Thursday (Jan. 24) at noon for Louis J. Tiburzi, of Hamburg, who died on Sunday, January 20, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Linda J. (DeGrasse) Tiburzi; daughter, Nicole Lewis; sisters, Marie (John) Benny and Kathy Tiburzi; grandson, Quinton Lewis and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tiburzi was predeceased by his children, Maria Lynn and Louis J. Tiburzi Jr.

Henriette J. Sullivan

A private family gathering was held from Romanello’s Restaurant on Thursday (Dec. 20) for Henriette “Hankie” June (Lofgren) Sullivan, 88, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, James B. Sullivan; children, Joan Sullivan and Richard (Susan) Sullivan; granddaughters, Katie Ambrose and Meghan Ambrose (fiancé of Ryan Calalesina) and cats, Leo and Holly.

Mrs. Sullivan was predeceased by her son, Daniel J. Sullivan, DDS.

She was born in Jamestown and later moved to Hamburg, where she met her husband at Hamburg High School (Class of 1942). They were married in 1946, upon his return from WW II. Mrs. Sullivan attended secretarial school, where she learned short-hand. She held executive secretarial positions at Gates Rubber Company and Penn Dixie Cement Company, early in her career. In 1966, she helped her daughter, Joan Sullivan, start Joni’s Hair Fashions. In 1977, she purchased and managed Elegant Nails on Buffalo Street in Hamburg. She was an avid dancer, dancing competitively with her husband at the Statler in downtown Buffalo. She was integral in helping to start the Hamburg Dance Club in the 1960s.

She retired to Fort Myers, Fla. in 1982 with her husband, where she enjoyed playing golf and her responsibilities on the board of Kelly Greens Country Club. She was a proud member of the Kelly Greens 18-holers and was frequently seen on the course with her Lady Cobra golf clubs, or enjoying the beach on Sanibel Island with her beloved granddaughters.

Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her daughter, who was her best friend. In her free-time, she played bridge, and was frequently seen doing Suduko and crossword puzzles.

She was a longtime member of the Hamburg American Legion Post 527 Ladies Auxiliary Unit.

A private family gathering was held shortly after her death at Romanello’s in Hamburg, where her favorite singer, Jack Civiletto, dedicated the song “All The Way” by Frank Sinatra to her memory. Her family celebrated her life and memory around the same table they hosted her 88th birthday at three weeks prior. She had a celebratory spirit and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Dr. Robert E. Ebinger

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family for Robert E. Ebinger, DDS, 85, of Orchard Park, formerly of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret R. (Meier) Ebinger and children, Robert (Amy) Ebinger and Susan Ebinger (husband George Green).

Dr. Ebinger was a Hamburg dentist for 42 years. He was a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dentistry and a member of the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He was also a member of the 8th District Dental Society and the New York State Dental Association.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, skiing, sailing, travel, wood carving, photography, his home and family and friends.

Arrangments were made through the Erie County Crematory Service.

Daniel F. Bukaty II

A funeral service was held from John J. Kaczor Funeral Home on Saturday (Jan. 20) for Daniel F. Bukaty II, of Syracuse, formerly of Lackawanna, who died on Monday, January 14, 2013.

He is survived by his parents, Daniel (Sandra) Bukaty and Elaine (Aragorn) Bukaty Watts; siblings, Ben and Cassie; grandparents, Daniel (Pat) Bukaty, Nancy Bukaty, Nancy Mendola and Charles Mendola; nephew, Nathan; a large family and many friends.

Mr. Bukaty was predeceased by his wife, Harper Bukaty.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Donna Jean Kmet

A private gathering will be held at a later date for Donna Jean (Shaw) Kmet, 67, of Dade City, Fla., formerly of Hamburg, who died on January 12, 2013.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Kmet; children, Brad (Deb) and Shawn (Jess) Engel and Brandon Scott; mother, Annette; sister, Nancy (Mike) McGrorty; grandchildren, Samantha, Jake, Tyler, Jayden and Wyatt; mother-in-law, Katie Kmet; special friend, Anna Anastasia; previous husband, Robert Scott; 10 brother-in-laws; 11 sister-in-laws; four stepdaughters; two stepsons; 16 step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kmet was predeceased by her father, George Shaw and husband, Terry Engel.

She was born on May 10, 1945 in Buffalo, the oldest of two daughters of George and Annette Shaw. She was a larger than life personality who touched many lives through her generous heart. She gave everything she had to those she loved. Her amazing positive attitude and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

Virginia L. Eye

A Mass of Christian Burial was held from Blessed John Paul II Parish on Thursday (Jan. 17) for Virginia L. (Boehm) Eye, 99, of Eden, who died on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

She is survived by her children, Carol Linda (Robert) Pollock and Gary (Susan) Eye; grandchildren, Kevin (Laura) Eye, Kate (James) Bartlett and Karen (Michael) Morris and great-grandchildren, Nolan Morris and Jacob Eye.

Mrs. Eye was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Eye.

Memorials may be made to Eden Community Foundation, P.O. Box 96, Eden, N.Y., 14057.

Burial was in St. Vincent Cemetery.

Randy L. Smith

A Mass of Christian Burial was held from SS. Peter and Paul Church on Wednesday (Jan. 23) for Randy L. Smith, 59, of Hamburg, who died on Sunday, January 20, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Debra (Barone) Smith; children, Erik (Lauren) and Lindsay (Matthew Hedges) Smith; mother, Betty Smith; sister, Claudia Logsdon and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith was predeceased by his father, Claude Smith.

He was a facilities manager at Fisher Price in East Aurora. He coached Lake Shore Little League baseball and was an avid baseball fan.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Foundation or St. Francis High School.

Burial was in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
