Carol Fleckenstein A memorial service was held Sunday (June 23) at the Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home for Carol A. Fleckenstein, of Hamburg who died Wednesday, June 19, 2013. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 41 years, Jeffrey Fleckenstein; children, Erin and Michael (Loren) Fleckenstein; sister-in-law, Kathy Ryan; grandchildren, Violet and Theodore; and also by Kelli (Chris) Tezanos and Patrick (Nicole) Ryan. Mrs. Fleckenstein was predeceased by her brother-in-law Brad Fleckenstein. Memorials made to the Ten Lives Club. Arrangements made by Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home.
Christine Corcoran A memorial service was held Tuesday (June 25) at the Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home for Christine D. Corcoran, of Lake View who died on Thursday, June 20, 2013. She is survived by her parents, Daniel and Debbie (Barnes) Corcoran; siblings, Mark (Susan) and Kimberly Corcoran; grandparents, Sue Barnes-Compton, John Corcoran; best friend, Christopher Batista; also by many friends and family members. Christine was predeceased by her grandparents, Rollie Barnes and Patricia (Healy) Corcoran. Donations made to Young Survivor Coalition. Arrangements made by Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home.


Eva Luther
A memorial service was held for Eva M. (Lechene) Luther, of Blasdell who died Friday, June 21, 2013.
She is survived by her children, RoxAnn (John) DiBuono and Rodney (Kathi) Luther; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Luther is predeceased by her husband Ronald Luther.

Dominic J. Spicola
A memorial service will be held at the Wentland Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27 for Dominic J. Spicola, 63, who died Sunday, June 23, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie; children, Joseph, Jill and Alex Spicola; siblings, Diane, Douglas, and Donna; grandchildren, Dane, Kali, and Gia.
Mr. Spicola was the owner of Spicola’s Service in Eden.

Donald J. Braasch
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 25 at Southtowns Christian Center in Lakeview for Donald J. Braasch, 80, of Lake View, who died Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Tischendorf) Braasch; children, David (Nancy) and Cynthia (Don Bley) Klopp; grandchildren, Daniel, Steven, Lindsey, Jonathan, Nathan, Christopher, Joshua and DJ.
Mr. Braasch was predceased by his siblings, Joan Redman and Ralph Braasch.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Manlius Military Academy in Syracuse and earned a business degree from Niagara University, where he had a four-year swimming scholarship and was a member of the Army ROTC.
Mr. Braasch owned and operated several business, including Frontier Excavating, Frontier Automotive, Shoreline Concrete Redimix and Donald J. Braasch Construction Inc.
He worked on many municipal projects, including the Union Ship Canal Walkway, the Babcock Bridge, the Scajaquada and Tifft Street bicycle paths, and all the concrete work at the Sturgeon Point Marina. His specialty was building concrete retaining walls along Lake Erie, including curved sea walls such as the one at the Dock of the Bay in Hamburg.
In the 1960s, he was an avid drag racer and won many times at Lancaster Speedway and Niagara Raceway with his car, Hot Foot.

David S. “Doc” Doctor
A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, July 12 at the American Legion Post #527 in Hamburg for David S. “Doc” Doctor, of Eden, who passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013.
He is survived by his siblings, Dorothy Hatsios and Daniel Doctor; brother-in-law Ronald (Lynda) Goodridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Doctor was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Goodridge).
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a radio/interceptor operator. He was employed for many years in a family-run commercial sign business and later operated his own tool sharpening business in Eden known as Doc’s Saw Shop. He was a member of American Legion Post #527 and the Eden Volunteer Fire Dept.

Joyce G. Cruz
A memorial service was held Wednesday (June 26) at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Cattaraugus Indian Reservation for Joyce G. (Waterman) Cruz, 68, of North Collins, who died Sunday, June 23, 2013.
She is survived by her children, Greg-Waterman, Esther (Louis) St. Germaine, Sheila, Cynthia, Manuel Jr. (Candy) and Jessica Cruz; siblings, Theda McCorkle, Edna Johnson, Lenith, Billie, April, Darwin Waterman and the late Gloria Waterman; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She is predceceased by her husband, Manuel “Tilo” Cruz Sr..

Samuel Costantino
A memorial service will be held at a later date for Samuel R. Costantino, of Hamburg, who died Thursday, June 13, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Costantino; children, David, Tricia, Mark (Debbie) and Christopher Costantino; brother-in-law, Robert Voelker; grandchildren, Mark, Anthony, Drew, Sara, Amanda and Tara; great-grandchild, Olivia; niece, Jennifer (Brian) Sharky; friends, Patty and Christopher McKinnon; also by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Costantino was predeceased by his brother, Edward (Nancy) Costantino.
Mr. Costantino was an alumni of St. Vincent College and an honorary chief of the Southwestern American Indian Tribe.

Sylvia A. Lawton
A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 22 at 1 p.m. at the Wentland Funeral Home for Sylvia A. Lawton, 69, of Gowanda who died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Lawton; children, Dawn (Richard) D’Amato and Paula Lawton; siblings, Florence Palcic, Nancy Pachucinski, Jean Bartlett, Adeline Orth, Fran Vosburg and Joann Hohman; grandchildren, Olivia, Madeline, Dakota, Margaux and Dominic.
Mrs. Lawton was born June 16, 1944.

Frederick O. Zahm
Frederick O. Zahm passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 after a long illness. He was a former business owner for almost 20 years of Moore’s Men’s Wear located at 37 Main St. Hamburg.
Mr. Zahm is survived by his wife of over 50 years, former Jeanette Zahm; children, Jeffrey, Wendy Huber; sibling, Patricia Anzulewicz; and 5 grandchildren.
Moores was a gathering place for many of the townspeople who belonged to a weekly suit drawing club giving them a chance to win $50 worth of merchandise. The business took care of the corporate and blue collar workers from Bethlehem Steel as well as many of the Automobile business owners who purchased clothing for their employees.
The Zahm Family had been Town Merchants since 1936 when Fred’s grandfather, Philip Zahm, started Zahm’s 5-$1.00 store. Fred’s father, Frederick C. became the next owner and Fred worked in the business until it closed in 1968. Fred became co-owner when he purchased Edwin Moore’s stake in the company in 1969.
Mr. Zahm was a talented craftsman and built a Victorian Doll House that was featured in The Hamburg Art Museum for more than 5 years until it closed. He and his son, Jeff collected trains and also built a large train display together.

Julianne Wilson
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 28 at the Southtowns Christian Center for Julianne (Wasylkowska) Wilson, of Hamburg, who died Friday, June 21, 2013.
She is survived by her child, Nicole (Phil) Juzdowski; siblings, Alice (Brent) Doyle and Peter Kramarczuk; grandchildren, Alexa and Ashley Juzdowski; also by a large loving family and many dear friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, James A. Wilson.
The family will be present Thursday at the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home (Hamburg Chapel) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Lakeside Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials to Roswell Park or the Hospice Foundation of WNY.
