Gillette Sr.


Funeral services were held on Monday (Nov. 26) from St. Matthew’s UCC for Richard A. Gillette Sr., of Hamburg, who died on Saturday, November 17, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie (Gabriel) Gillette; children, Barbara (Mike), Patricia, Laura (Joseph) Congilosi, Diane (Tom) Zelasko and Richard Gillette Jr; siblings, Arthur (late Jean), Marian (Dan) Tauriello, Ida (late Ken) McGrath, Fred (late Eleanor), Harry and Howard (Julie) Gillette; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gillette was predeceased by his brother, Warren (late Bennie).

He was a member of Merrill’s Merauders and the Hamburg Democratic Committee.

Memorials may be made to the VFW 1419 Building Fund or Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Richard J. Simonick

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday (Nov. 26) from Queen of Angels Church for Richard J. Simonick, 86, of Woodlawn, who died on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie (Todd) Simonick; his daughter, Geralyn (Sean) Spiesz; siblings, Patricia, John (late Joan), James (Bonnie)and Thomas (Sandy) Simonick; grandchildren, Noah, Ryan and Lucas Spiesz; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Simonick was predeceased by his brother, Frank (Ruth) Simonick.

He was born in Dunmore, Pa., and retired from Artcraft Burrow in Buffalo.

Mr. Simonick was a past president of the St. Bridget’s Credit Union, a member of Hamburg Township VFW Post 1419 and a member of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Grace Church.

Final resting place is Holy Cross Cemetery.

Ruth C. Ballard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1 from Blessed John Paul II Parish, Lakeview, for Ruth C. Ballard, 96, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Hamburg, who died on Sunday, November 25, 2012.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Richard) Rosiek and Barbara Gunnarson; grandchildren, Donna Hamilton, Michael, Steven and Jeanette Rosiek, Tammy Turner, Jeff, Eric and Chris Gunnarson and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ballard was predeceased by her husband, George V. Ballard; her parents, Edward and Martha Wolf; her siblings, Vera Powers and Edward and Robert Wolf and her son-in-law, Ronald Gunnarson.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1915 in Prairie du Chien, Wis. During World War II, she worked in an airplane factory. After the war, she was a stay-at-home mom with her daughters.

Mrs. Ballard loved to travel, play bridge and was an accomplished seamstress.

Final resting place is at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

June M. Kucewicz

Memorial services will be held at a future date for June M. (Robinson) Kucewicz, 87, of Cheektowaga, who died on Saturday, November 24, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Sherri Kucewicz, Theodore Jr. (Jayne) and Edward (Joann) Kucewicz; siblings, Winifred (William) Moreland, Harriet (Floyd) Simpson, Lawrence (Margaret) Robinson; grandchildren, Lindsay Shank, Trista and Jonathan Kucewicz; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jack and Gavin.

Mrs. Kucewicz was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Kucewicz Sr. and siblings, Chester (Madeline) Robinson and Luella (Kenneth) Schabio.

Elizabeth A. Bobseine

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 30 from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Elizabeth A. (Eder) Bobseine, 89, of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Oliver Bobseine; children, Michelle (Donald) Emerling, Cynthia (John Wapner), Marcie (James) Cocina, Wendy (late Fred) Conway, Michael (Susan), Greg and Timothy; her siblings, Martha Eder and John (Marie) Eder; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bobseine was predeceased by her son, Matthew Bobseine and sister, Marion (late Donald) Nabee.

Memorials may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Tuition Angels.

Final resting place is SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Mary Anna Bettinger

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday (Nov. 27) from Epiphany of Our Lord Church for Mary Anna (Bach) Bettinger, 82, of North Collins, who died on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Jim) Pelc, Christine, Harold “Hap” (Janet) Bettinger; three grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Mrs. Bettinger was predeceased by her husband, Harold Bettinger Sr.; daughter, Kathy Bettinger and many brothers and sisters.

Philip J. Damstetter

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday (Nov. 28) from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Philip J. Damstetter, 78, of Hamburg, who died on Sunday, November 25, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Pigut); children, Angela Yeates and Matthew (Lisa) Damstetter; grandchildren, Nicole and Ryan Yeates and Genevieve and Joseph Damstetter.

Mr. Damstetter was predeceased by his brother, Donald Damstetter.

Robert William Loftus Sr.

Word has been received of the death of Robert William Loftus Sr., 84, of Eden, who died on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Services will be announced by the family.

He is survived by his companion, partner and soul-mate for over 24 years, Joyce Schreiber; children, Robert William Jr. and Susan Marie; grandchildren, Kristin Lea (Marty) Horan, Daniel Edward Gwitt and Jessica Anding; great-grandchild, Austin William Horan; five step-children and 10 step-grandchildren.

Mr. Loftus was predeceased by his parents, Marie (Murdock) and William Loftus and his sister, Irene V. (Gordon W.) Rieppel.

He was a U.S. Air Force staff sargeant, serving from1950 to 1954, and played on the special services baseball team in Lackland, Texas.

Mr. Loftus was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 24 years. He was a past member of the Amherst Gaelic League, the Gowanda Country Club and a participant in the University at Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. He was an avid golfer and a life-long Yankees fan.

Mary A. Martnshin

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday (Nov. 28) from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Mary A. (Fortini) Martnshin, of Blasdell, who died on Sunday, November 25, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Rose Ann (Donald) Klein, Michele Foose and Edward Martnshin; grandchildren, Donald Klein, Kelley (James) Mason, Courtney (Justin) Wentz, Deanna (Derek) Torpey and John Michael Foose; great-grandchildren, Justin and Jason Wentz; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martnshin was predeceased by her husband, John M. Matnshin; her parents, Tulio and Rose Fortini and her sister, Alvera (Clarence) Stevanus.

Final resting place is Hillcrest Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. from Addison Funeral Home Inc., 562 Main St., Anogla, for Joen M. Guenthner of Derby, who died on Friday, November 16, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Rudolph “Rudy” Guenthner; children Nancy and Mark (Lisa) Guenthner; sister, June (Robert) Ullenbrook; granddaughter, Tammy Guenthner.

Mrs. Guenthner was predeceased by her son, Brian Guenthner.

She is survived by her husband, Dwayne W. Hogencamp; parents, Janet (David) Woefling and Charles (Connie) Rindfleisch; daughter, Lindsay Dylong; siblings, Cindy (Robert) Stadelmaier and Kelly (James) Brown; grandchildren, Draven and Layla Albano; also survived by a large loving family and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held from the Loomis, Offers and Loomis Funeral Home on Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Lucia Isabella Egner, 89, of Eden, formerly of Hamburg, who died on Friday, November 23, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosalie Brumbaugh; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Egner was predeceased by her siblings, Florence, Beatrice, May, Violet, Elinora, Norman and Thomas.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth, Denise (John) Paszkiewicz, Ginene and John (Jacqueline) Bienko; siblings, Donald (late Bev) and Bobby (Diane) Barry, Kathleen (late Joseph) Horan; grandchildren, Gunner, Olivia and Samuel; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bienko was predeceased by her husband, Jack Bienko and her sister, Peggy (late Al) McDonald.

Michael Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday (Nov. 23) from Most Precious Blood Church for Norman J. Michael Sr., of Angola, who died on Monday, November 19, 2012.

He is survived by his children, Susan, Karen, Norman Jr. (Gail), Michael Sr.; siblings, Theresa (Richard) Becker and Ramona (late Joseph) Arida; nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Michael was predeceased by his wife, Carol J. (Zettlemoyer) Michael.
