Herbert Fiebelkorn

Herbert Fiebelkorn of Hamburg died Sept. 15.

He was a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 531 of Little Valley.

He was the husband of Elizabeth (nee McLellan); father of Gloria “Cookie” Emerling, Michael (Debra), Susan (Paul) Eaton and the late Jerry Fiebelkorn; also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private service was held at the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home on Sept. 20. Burial was in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Robert Knab
Robert Knab Sr., 62, of Derby died on Sept. 20 in Westfield Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of Audrey Knab. Father of Robert Knab Jr. and Marcy (Martin) Sikorski. Brother of Judith (late Mark) Waldhauser. Grandfather of Brianna.

Visitation and a funeral service were held from the Addison Funeral Home Inc. of Angola.

Veronica May
Veronica (nee Fliss) May, 92, of Hamburg died Sept. 18.

She retired from Moog in 1985, after a 20-plus-year career.

She was the wife of the late Brownie May; mother of Gary (Mary), Beverly (Karl) Kleinschrod and Debra (James); grandmother of Lena, Gary, Angela, Karen and Christine; great-grandmother of Valerie; sister of Alice (late John) Kozub and the late Richard (Charlotte) Fliss and Amelia (late Edward) Pajak; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Sept. 20 from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home’s Blasdell/Lackawanna Chapel. Prayers were said Sept. 21, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Janice Meyerhoefer
Janice (nee Hoover) Meyerhoefer, 72, of Hamburg died Sept. 18.

She was the wife of Dennis Meyerhoefer; sister of the late Mary Ann Signs and Charles Hoover; also survived by two nephews.

Visitation was held from the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home of Hamburg on Sept. 22 and a funeral service was held Sept. 23. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.

Teresa Ann VanCheri
Teresa Ann (nee Gambacorta) Van Cheri, 52, died Sept. 19 in her Derby home.

She was the wife of Edward Van Cheri; mother of Brian (Lena) Harvey, Andrea Harvey and Melissa Harvey; sister of Rose (Roberto) Becerril and David Gambacorta; daughter of Marianne (nee Keifer) Gambacorta and the late Raymond Gambacorta.

Visitation was held from the Addison Funeral Home of Angola on Sept. 30. A Mass of Christian burial was held from Most Precious Blood Church of Angola on Oct. 1.

Craig Thomas
Craig Thomas
Craig Thomas, 64, formerly of Buffalo, died Sept. 14 at Mease Countryside Hospital of Safety Harbor, Fla.

He was the son of Charles and Rosemay (nee Bowen) Thomas. He graduated from Frontier Central High School and studied automotive management at the Midland School of Michigan.

He opened his own lawn maintenance company, Mr. Outside, before he retired in 2002.

He worked at Buffalo Tungsten and then retired to Clearwater, Fla., where he worked as a nursing home aide.

He spent time in nature and with animals.

He was the brother of Gary (Marilou) of Los Altos, Calif.; Roger (Judity) of North Collins; Karen (Thomas) Schmittendorf of North Boston; Ronald (Christine) of Hamburg and Jeffrey of Kenmore.

A memorial service will be held for family members, at a later date.
