Obituaries for Hamburg, Boston, Eden, Evans, Brant and Farnham for the Week of Dec. 13, 2012

Norman E. Brown

Word has been received of the death of Norman E. Brown, 89, of Eden who died on Friday, November 30, 2012.

He is survived by his children, Joyce Heinold, Frank (Darlene), David (Carolyn), Philip and Paul (Tracey) Brown; foster child, Mary (Steven) Rusin; sister, Lila Bennett; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brown was predeceased by his wife, Mildred R. (Kingsley) and his brothers, Gerald, James and Walter Brown.

He was born in Calument, Quebec on Dec.1, 1923. Living in Quebec, he was very athletic. He was a boxer, avid skier, big game hunter and fisherman. He worked in forestry and mining and after moving to Kimberly, British Columbia he continued to mine. He returned to Niagara Falls for his sister’s wedding, and decided to stay in the Niagara area where he found work on the Canadian Power Project in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

In 1954 on a blind date in Hamilton, Ontario, he met his future wife Mildred Kingsley. They married in 1954, then moved to the United States.

After moving to the U.S. he started working at Ford Motor Company in Woodlawn. He retired in 1971 from Ford.

Mr. Brown was a very generous and grateful man. He gave money to his church, and to the less fortunate. He was always ready to help when he heard there was a need.

He had a great sense of humor; he gave everyone a nick name, which only he could use.

Mr. Brown’s motto was, “Never give up, n Advertise ever ever give up.”

With his children by his bedside Norman entered into eternal rest. He fought to the very end.

Donato N. Morano

Graveside services with military honors were held Monday (Dec. 10) from the North Evans Cemetery for Donato N. “Rodeo Dan” Morano, of Eden, who died on Friday, December 7, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl A. (Zack) Morano; children, Donato Morano Jr., Jacquie Wagner, Kristen (Lisa) Morano, Robin Morano and Clinton (Janice) Morano and grandchildren, Joshua, Adam, Clinton Jr., Natalie, Annamarie. Melissa and Holly.

Mr. Morano was predeceased by his grandson, Charles Nicholas.

Arrangements were made through the Addison Funeral Home.

Jeanne Koester Fierle

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday (Dec. 15) at 10 a.m. from the Blessed John Paul II Parish for Jeanne (Cross) Koester Fierle, of Lakeview, who died on Sunday, December 9, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Koester, Deborah (Leroy) Leavell, Thomas (Maria), Marilyn (David) Winkler, Daniel (Nancy) and Gregory; step-children, Ronald (Judy) Koester, Thomas Fierle and Ellen (Robert) Pavlovic; 20 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and 21 great and step-great-grandchildren; companion Gerry Leavell.

Mrs. Fierle was predeceased by her husbands, Edward Koester and Eugene Fierle; step children, Shirley Koester (late Chet) Struski and Richard Koester, and step granddaughter, Jennifer Pavlovic.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Lakeview when she was five. A graduate of Woodlawn High School, she retired as a teacher’s aide at Southtowns Catholic School. She also worked for the Lakeview Hotel, the Frontier Central School District and as an Avon representative. She was very active with the Hamburg seniors, taking trips all over the country, including Louisiana, Alaska and Nova Scotia. She worked at St. Vincent’s Operation Good Neighbor every Tuesday until the time of her death. She loved being outdoors, and was an avid walker, swimmer and birdwatcher.

Memorials may be to Operation Good Neighbor at Blessed John Paul II Parish.

Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery.

Carl Brenner

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday (Dec. 12) from the Epiphany of Our Lord Church for Carl Brenner, 92, of North Collins, who died on Sunday, December 9, 2012.

He is survived by his children, Patricia A. (John) Rowan, David P. (Theresa) Brenner, Kathleen A. (Christian) Somers, Barbara J. Brenner (Lydia D’Amato) and Carol L. Kulczyk; grandchildren, Kristen, Mark and Tyra Rowan, Daniel Brenner and Nicholas and Timothy Somers and siblings, Norman Brenner and Betty Geiger.

Mr. Brenner was predeceased by his wife, Barabra A. (Martin) Brenner; a gradndaughter, Jennifer Rowan and siblings, George, Bernard Brenner, Mary Ingerl and Angie Emerling.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo.

Patricia Ann Kushner

A funeral service was held Thursday (Dec. 6) from the Big Tree Wesleyan Church for Patricia Ann (Smith) Kushner, of Blasdell, who died on Monday, December 3, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Beth, Cheryl, Rich (Debra) and Daren: grandchildren, T.J., Camran, Jonathan, Justin, Kristina, Alexis, James, Betsy, Diana and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Brody; sisters, Marilyn (late John) Abram and Sue (Arnold) Ferro and nieces and nephews.

Kathleen Pacanowski

A funeral service was held Friday (Dec. 7) from the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home for Kathleen (Waszak) Pacanowski, 54, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Melanie (Lawrence Wolfe) and Jason (Amanda) Pacanowski; grandchildren, Dillon Wolfe; siblings, Judy Pacanowski and Lawrence (Sue) Waszak.

Mrs. Pacanowski was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence.

She was a department manager at Walmart and a member of the Southtowns Working Dog Club and Erie Canal Schipperke Club.

Memorials may be made to the AKC Schipperke Rescue.

Burial was at Prospect Lawn Cemetery.

Laura M. Renaldo

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday (Dec. 10) from the Holy Spirit Church for Laura M. (Rinaldo) Renaldo, 94, of North Collins, who died on Friday, December 7, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Catherine (Ted) Jumper and Anthony (Gail) Renaldo: eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Renaldo was predeceased by her husband, William Renaldo and one brother and four sisters.

Arrangements were made through the Wentland Funeral Home.

Norman C. Hunt

A memorial wake will be held Saturday (Dec. 15) from 10 a.m. to noon from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home for Norman C. Hunt, 72, of Hamburg, who died on Saturday, December 8, 2012.

He is survived by his siblings, Rhoda Payne, Beverly Steele and Kenny Hunt and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hunt was predeceased by his brothers, Warren and Stanley Hunt.

He retired as a foreman from the Ford Stamping Plant.

Charles J. Hund

Word has been received of the death of Charles J. Hund, 95, of Sunrise, Fla., formerly of Hamburg, who died on Thursday, November 15, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Fischer) Hund; children, Patricia (late Donald) DeJong and Charles J. (Carla) Hund Jr.; grandchildren, Peter (Sandy) Hund, Mark Hund, Jennifer (Mark) Driscoll and Debbie (Sam) Lorenzo; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Madison and Matthew Hund, Hailey Driscoll and Bianca, Samantha and Victoria Lorenzo.

Mr. Hund retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1977. He and Mrs. Hund celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in July.

Dianne R. Gajewski

A memorial service will be held Sunday (Dec. 16) at 3 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church for Dianne R. (Hill) Gajewski, 67, of Angola, who died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony E. Gajewski Sr.; children, Beth (Mark) Fricano and Anthony (Jill) Gajewski Jr.; siblings, Leonard (Sandy), Joanne and Georgianna Hill and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gajewski was predeceased by her father, George (Beatrice) Hill and brothers, James (Linda) and Richard Hill.

Arrangements were made through the Addison Funeral Home.

Michael J. Gates

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday (Dec. 7) from St. Mary of the Lake Church for Michael J. Gates, 47, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Fennell) Gates; children, Kaelyn E., Leigh Ann and Allyson Taylor Gates; father, George C. Gates; siblings, Melvin G. (Cindy) Gates and Odella (Joseph) Madeja and many relatives and friends.

Mr. Gates was predeceased by his mother, Dawn L. (Schneider) Gates.

He was a past chief and life member of the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Compnay, Inc. and a member of the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company Exempts. He was also a past president of the Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen. He was a printer with Elderwood Senior Care in Williamsville, NY.

Memorials may be made to the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company Benevolent Association.
