Matthew Shelvay and Lynne Dixon
HAMBURG — Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon presented a proclamation to Matthew Shelvay of Hamburg, in recognition of the Scout’s work to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
The proclamation was given to Shelvay at the Hoover Road Park Shelter, which he and volunteers refurbished, for the project.
“Hoover Road Park is a great site near the lake that is enjoyed by many families,” Dixon said.
“Matthew identified the shelter as an issue and put in a great deal of time and effort to install a new roof and repaint the structure. Because of his hard work, the shelter will be safe for families and residents to use for years to come. Congratulations to Matthew on an outstanding Eagle Scout project and for achieving Boy Scout’s highest rank, a feat not easily accomplished,” the legislator added.
Shelvay, a member of Boy Scout Troop 400, sponsored by Saints Peter & Paul School, also serves as a junior leader of the troop. He has earned 39 merit badges. He is enlisted with the United States Navy and will be leaving for basic training, next year.
