Marjorie M. Phillips (nee Bierman), 77, formerly of Springville, Collins Center, Otto and Hinsdale, died Jan. 13 at the Tanglewood Memory Gardens in Jamestown, N.Y.
She was born April 24, 1936 in Springville, to the late Emil and Isabelle (nee Ahrens) Bierman.
She earned a masters degree in education from the State University of New York at Fredonia and taught reading at Springville-Griffith Institute for 20 years.
She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Springville, crafted, readand played cards and games.
She was the wife of the late David Phillips; mother of James (Donna) Phillips of Georgia, Susan (Ralph) Brinks of Olean, Mary (Jeffrey) Spaulding of Ellicottville and Mark (Evelyn) Phillips of Maryland; sister of Joanne Libra of Nevada and Alan Bierman of North Otto; grandmother of 10 grandchildren; great-grandmother of one great-grandson; also survived by eight nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Jan. 15 from the Salem Lutheran Church in Springville. The Rev. Fred Poeppel officiated. Burial was in Collins Center Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York.
