Frederick Allen

Frederick Allen, 81, of Angola died Oct. 10.

He was the husband of Colleen (nee Murphy) Allen; father of Linda (Raymond) Ferris, Beth (Mitchell) Lopez, Mitchell Allen, Joette (Norman “Andy”) Gzyl and Murphy Allen; brother of Emery (Mary) Allen and the late Robert and Richard Allen; grandfather of Heather Erickson, Lindsay Martin, Jeffrey Russell, Casey and Nikolas Lopez, Matthew, Zachary and Courtney Allen and Micaela Gzyl; great-grandfather of Savannah Ferris, Marissa Erickson and Ferris Martin.

Visitation was held from the Addison Funeral Home Inc., located at 262 Main St. in Angola, where prayers were said, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Saint Anthony’s Church of Farnham.

Interment services and military honors were held in Saint Anthony’s Cemetery of Farnham.

Norma Bryant

Norma (nee Chasey) Bryant of Angola died Oct. 16.

She was the wife of the late Marvin Bryant; mother of Douglas (Judy), Eric (Leslie), Randy (Diana), Barb (Al) O’Brien and Dean Bryant; sister of Ronald (Virginia) Chasey; grandmother of 17; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Oct. 20 from the Loomis, Offers & Loomis Inc. Funeral Home’s Hamburg Chapel, where a funeral service was held Oct. 21.

Flowers are declined. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Buffalo Inc.

William Broadbent Jr.

William Broadbent Jr., 70, of Hamburg died Oct. 19.

He was a bus driver with D&F Travel of Dunkirk.

He was the husband of Leona (nee Geigals) Broadbent; father of Michelle (late Leonard) Czaplicki, Angelo (Christine), John (Jennifer) Queen, James (Jennifer) Queen and Janet (Steve) Hauer; grandfather of Michael, James, Brandan, Chelsea, Megan, Anna and Andrew; brother of Thomas (William Luvender), Christine (Grover) Moore and Dennis (Susan) Broadbent.

Paul Ely

Paul Otis Ely, 98, of The Palms of Mount Pleasant, S.C. died Oct. 19.

He was born April 11, 1915 in Franklin, Pa. to the late Edgar Ely and Vera (nee Porter) Ely. He worked as a welder and steamfitter. He was a past member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He was the husband of the late Janet Marjorie (nee Ulrich) Ely. Father of Gail (Dominick) Masocco of Summerville, S.C.; Karen Delcioppo of Daniel Island, S.C. and the late John Neuman Ely. Grandfather of Alicia Masocco-Steele, Julianne Masocco, Matthew Masocco, Michael Delcioppo, Paul Delcioppo, Steven Delcioppo, Marie Delcioppo, Marie Chandra Leggett and Ryan Ely; great-grandfather of 10. Brother of Sarah McNutt of San Diego, Calif. and the late Norman Ely, Marion Goetz, Ebin Ely and Ralph Ely. Father-in-law of Christine Ely of Hamburg.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Oct. 22. Arrangements were made by J. Henry Stuhr Inc. of Mount Pleasant Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul Society, care of Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.

Carole (nee Frederick) Gates of Hamburg died Oct. 16.

She was the wife of the late William Gates; mother of Christopher (Tina) Gates; grandmother of Brandon and Connor Gates; daughter of the late Cross and Helen Frederick; sister of Robert (Gloria) Frederick, Patty (late Ralph) Perfetto and Mary O’Mara; sister-in-law of June (Fred) Tullos, Elva (late Charles) Schmidt and the late Harold (Paulette) Gates and late Jay (Carol) Gates.

Visitation was held from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home’s Hamburg Chapel and a Mass of Christian burial was held from Saints Peter & Paul Church.

Patrick Gresko

Patrick Gresko of Angola died Oct. 16.

He was the husband of Jeanette (nee Meidel) Gresko and father of John and Steven Gresko. Also survived by cousin Paul (Maryann) Gresko.

Visitation and a funeral service were held from the Addison Funeral Home Inc., located at 262 N. Main St.

Interment services followed in Saint Vincent de Paul Cemetery of Eden.

Michael Jaeger

Michael Jaeger, 85, of Angola died Oct. 19 in Mercy Hospital.

He was the husband of Linda Jaeger. Father of Donald (Dolores) Gasper, Hilda Gasper, John (Brenda) Jaeger, Michael Jaeger and the late Sharleen (Michael) Marren. Brother of the late Donald (Donna) Jaeger, the late Rosemary (Skip) Olear and the late Joan O’Conner. Also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many friends.

Visitation and a funeral service were held from the Addison Funeral Home Inc., located at 262 N. Main St. in Angola.

Suzanne Munson

Suzanne (nee Wurstner) Munson of Evans died Oct. 15.

She was the wife of Edward Munson; mother of Edward (Michelle) Munson; grandmother of three grandchildren and great-grandmother of four. Also survived by many friends and other family members.

A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Robert Pack

Robert Pack of Richmond, Va., formerly of Hamburg, died Oct. 13.

He was an estimator at Bethlehem Steel.

He was the husband of the late Alice (nee Wozniak); father of Robert, Thomas, William and David Pack; brother of George and the late Audrey Pack; also survived by six grandchildren.

Visitation was held from the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home Inc. on Oct. 17. A Mass of Christian burial was held Oct. 18 from Saints Peter & Paul Church.

Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery in Springville.

Edward Piatkowski

Edward Piatkowski, 72, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of North Collins, died Oct. 20.

He retired from work at Emerling Ford in Springville.

He was the husband of 52 years of Mary Ann (nee Borucki) Piatkowski; father of Lynn Roland, Edward Piatkowski and John (Jeny) Piatkowski; brother of Geraldine (late Norbert) Ruminski; also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial wake will be held from 10 a.m. – noon on Saturday, Oct. 26 from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home Inc., located at 5453 Southwestern Blvd. in Hamburg, where a memorial service will follow at noon.

Alphonse Sessanna

Alphonse Sessanna, 83, of East Eden, died Oct. 17 at home.

He was a lifelong resident of Eden. He was born March 1, 1930 to the late Anthony and Carmella (nee Fusco) Sessanna.

He was the brother of Rose, Jeanette and the late Anna, Bridget, Mary Angeline, Thomas, Joseph and Anthony Jr. Also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be no prior visitation. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were made by the Laing Funeral Home Inc., located at 2724 W. Church St. in Eden.

Thomas Tighe

Thomas Tighe, 71, died Oct. 19 in Mercy Hospital.

He was born Jan. 30, 1942 in Scranton, Pa. to the late Anthony and Mary (nee Troy) Tighe.

He attended Hilbert College and earned a degree in criminal justice from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.

He retired from the Buffalo Police Department, after 32 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Newell-Faulkner Post No. 880, where he was a past commander, and from the Hamburg Moose Lodge.

He was the husband of Bridget (nee Smith); father of Thomas Jarett (Sheila) and Patrick Galen (Amy) Tighe; brother of Mary Gail (Joe) Gardner; grandfather of Taylor, Katelyn, Patrick and Brenna.

Visitation was held Oct. 22 from the Laing Funeral Home Inc., located at 2724 W. Church St. in Eden. A funeral service was held Oct. 23.
