James “Jim” Edward Penharlow Sr., 73, of Lawtons, passed away at Lakeshore Health Care Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Penharlow was dedicated to the Volunteer Fire Services at Gowanda, Cattaraugus, and Collins Center. He retired after working his entire career at the Gowanda Psychiatric Center and JN Adam Developmental Center. He was a graduate of Springville-Griffith Institute.
He was the son of Harlan and Mable (Pfarner) Penharlow Sr.; father of James Penharlow Jr. (Carol Lenaghen), Kevin (Karen) Penharlow, Lisa Whipple (Scott Newton), and Michelle Dash; brother of the late Harlan Penharlow Jr. and Harold Penharlow; he is also survived by two grandsons.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Feb. 2 at the Gowanda Fire Hall at 230 Aldrich Street Extension in Gowanda, at 11 a.m. to celebrate his life. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gowanda Fire Company, The American Cancer Society, or the UB Anatomical Gift Program in his memory.
