Baylee M. Dion

Funeral services were held Wednesday (Dec. 5) from the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg for Baylee M. Dion, 7 months, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

She is survived by her father, Scott R. Dion and mother, Denise Hine; siblings, Michelle Brand, Ciera Dion and Ryan Hine-Dion; grandparents, James and Linda Dion, John and Diane Hine.

Memorials may be made to M.A.D.D.

Raymond G. Rosiek

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday (Nov. 26) from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Raymond G. Rosiek, 74, of Blasdell, who died on Monday, November 26, 2012.

He is survived by his siblings, Mary Rosiek, James (Judith), Richard (Sharon), Judith (James) Meyer, Thomas (Donna); many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rosiek was predeceased by his parents, John and Hilda (Meyer) Rosiek; siblings, John Sr. (Deborah) and Cynthia (late Douglas) Dils.

He was a retiree of the Erie County Highway Department and an avid sports fan.

Internment was at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Arrangements were made through the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home.

Deborah J. Parker

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. from the Hospice Chapel for Deborah J. (McLaughlinMiller) Parker, 63, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Earl; children, Lisa (Brian) Marx and Marc (Tara) Miller; father, Harry (late Mary) McLaughlin; siblings, Judith, Maria (Carlos) Cruz, James J. (late Maud), James H. (Cathy), Daniel R. (Sharon) and Butch (Kathy) McLaughlin; grandchildren, Emily, Livinity, Izalia and Cameron; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Adeline Bolton

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday (Nov. 26) from Immaculate Conception Church for Adeline Bolton, 76, of Angola, who died on Friday, November 23, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Robert I. Bolton, Jr.; children, Mary Jo (Ronald) Kriz, Brenda (Brian) Burgstahler, Ron (Cindy) Reisch, Robert (Jennifer) Reisch and James R. (Amy) Bolton; siblings, Fannie Smith, Charles and Dennis Lauricella; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bolton was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary (Romano) Lauricella and her brother, Frank Lauricella.

She was the director of food services for Eden Central Schools and later Eden Heights Assisted Living Facility. Italian foods and cream puffs were her specialty.

Jeanne M. Belscher

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 from Trinity Episcopal Church for Jeanne M. (Hull) Belscher, of Lowell, Mass., formerly of Hamburg, who died on Monday, November 19, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Martin J. (Kathleen) Jr., Douglas H. and K. Gregory; grandchildren, Amy Yanowitz, Laura Crowley, Abigail, Stephen, William and Rob Belscher; great-grandchildren, Sam, Alva, and Jack Yanowitz, Henry and Max Belscher and William and Oliver Crowley; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Belscher was predeceased by her husband, Martin J. Belscher and her brothers, Robert, Donald and Kenneth.

She was a social studies teacher in the Hamburg area high schools. She was also active in the PTA, Home Bureau and the League of Women Voters.

Michael A. Buchheit

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday (Dec. 5) from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Michael A. Buchheit, of Hamburg, who died on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Barabara (Zimmerman); brother, Rudolph (Alice) Buchheit, mother and father-in-law, David and Esther (Pietrzak) Zimmerman; many nieces and nephews; companions, Ben and Missy.

Mr. Buchheit was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Rudolph and Martha (Lum) Buchheit; sister, Martha Jane (late Ryan)Desmond and companion, Ernie.

He was the president of the Blasdell-Woodlawn Lions Club and a retired teacher. He taught chemistry at Hamburg High School for 15 years, general sciences at Hamburg Junior High School for 15 years and for one year at Cardinal Dougherty. He loved to fly fish and cook, and his barbecue sauce and Christmas cookies were favorites. Some of the places he fished were the Bahamas, New Zealand, Montana, Christmas Island and Alaska. He loved the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Bandits.

Memorials may be made to the Lions Vision Beyond Sight Foundation.

Maryann Shields

Word has been received of the death of Maryann Shields, 71, of Hickory, N.C., formerly of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dallas Shields; children, Erika (Dr. Patrick) Morgante and Aaron (Christine) Shields; grandchildren, Madeline and Lauren Morgante, Alexander and Zachary Shields.

Mrs. Shields was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary (Tesluk) Danko.

She taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Bernadette’s and for 16 years at SS. Peter & Paul school.

William A. Johnson

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday (Dec. 1) from Trinity Episcopal Church for William A. Johnson, 80, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Johnson); children, Nancy (late Michael) Szymoniak, Eileen Sciarra, Carol (Jeffrey) Boyle, Mary Ellen (George) Munschauer, Peter (Maureen) Johnson, Paul (Susan) Johnson; step-children, Erin (Michael) Ciurzynski and Kerry (Gary) Katz; siblings, Edward (Mary) Johnson and brother-in-law Richard Johnson; grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth, Margaret, Abigail, Sarah, Kristin, Sarah, Lizzie, Michael, George, Will, Brendan, John; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Johnson was predeceased by his former wife, Elizabeth (Campagna) and his daughter, Susan Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Canisius High School, he was a graduate of the class of 1950.

Everett N. Jones Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday (Dec. 3) from St. Mary of the Lake Church for Everett N. “Cliff” Jones Jr., of Hamburg, who died on Thursday, November 29, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Logan); children, Amy (Jeffrey Berndtson) Jones and Laura (Jason) Markel; sister, Barbara Jones; grandchildren, Catherine, Chase, Andrew and Aaron.

Mr. Jones was an avid golfer, a Lake Shore Volunteer Firefighter life member and a member of Wanakah Country Club.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Richard W. Clark Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday (Dec. 10) from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Richard W. “Ricky” Clark Jr., 44, of Hamburg, who died on Monday, December 3, 2012.

He is survived by his parents, Janet and Richard Clark Sr. and siblings, Michele, Christopher, Eric and Robert.

Mr. Clark was predeceased by his sister, Jennifer.

He was a member of Agape Parents Fellowship and SS. Peter and Paul Church.

John F. Tunney

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday (Nov. 29) from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for John F. Tunney, of Hamburg, who died on Sunday, November 25, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine (McDonnell); siblings, Richard; sister-in-law, Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tunney was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Georgina (Beetow) Tunney; siblings, Donald (Grace) and David (late Jeane); brother-in-law of John, Michael, Patrick, Eugene, William (Mary), Bernard, Mary and Edward (Marilyn) McDonnell.

He was an active member of Big Tree Volunteer Fire Company for 42 years and a member of the American Legion Hamburg Post 527.

Alice A. Pawlowski

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday (Dec. 1) from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church for Alice A. (Sambora) Pawlowski, 90, of Hamburg, who died on Thursday, November 29, 2012.

She is survived by her son, Thomas (Jean) Pawlowski; siblings, Richard and Harry Sambora; grandson, Stephen Pawlowski.

Mrs. Pawlowski was predeceased by her husband, Henry Pawlowski; siblings, Joseph and Tawey Sambora, Olga Carney and Adeline Gzyl.

Entombment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Josephine M. Dole

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday (Dec. 5) from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Josephine M. (Dombrowski) Dole, 94, of Hamburg, who died on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Barabra Bindig, Gary (Sherry) and Donald (Jo-ann)Douglas (Bernice0 Dole; grandchildren, Lori Bindig, JoAnne (Arpit) Patel, Michael (Lisa), Jeffrey (Karen) and Derek (Elizabeth) Dole; five grandchildren.

Mrs. Dole was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Dole.

She was a former deputy village clerk for the Village of Hamburg.

Burial was at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Wayne E. Myers

Funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family for Wayne E. Myers, 53, of Angola, who died on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.

He is survived by his mother, Rosemary (the late Thomas) Myers and sister, Karen L. (Michael) Kennelly.

Charles J. Hund

Word has been received of the death of Charles J. Hund, 95, of Sunrise, Florida, formerly of Hamburg, who died on Thursday, November 15, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Fischer) Hund; children, Patricia (late Donald) DeJong and Charles J. (Carla) Hund Jr.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hund retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1977. He and Mrs. Hund celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in July.

Noreen L. Sobczak

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday (Dec. 7) from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Noreen L. (Gilmartin) Sobzcak, of Blasdell, who died on Monday, December 3, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James E. Sobczak; children, Deanne (Arthur Saenz), Sandra (James) Beckett, Christine (Mitchell Lyden) and Jimmy (Jeanne) Sobczak; grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew (Sonya) and Jamie Beckett, Jacquelyne Ziccarelli, Alexander and Eric Saenz, Allison and Nicholas Sobczak and brother, Thomas (Mary) Gilmartin.

Internment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Rose M. Simpson

Funeral services were held Sunday (Dec. 2) from the Wentland Funeral Home for Rose M. (Grady) Simpson, 75, of North Collins, who died on Saturday December 1, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Susan), James, Scott and Michael Simpson; siblings, Sharon Lehner, Patricia and William Grady; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made through the Wentland Funeral Home.

George J. Rukavina

A Mass was held Wednesday (Dec. 5) from St. Mary’s Oratory followed by a military service at St. Mary’s Cemetery for George J. Rukavina, 74, of Eden, who died on Thursday, November 29, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn A. (Haag); siblings, Bernadine (Zoltan) Almasi, Barbara Gilson and Donald (Mona) Rukavina; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rukavina was predeceased by his brother, John Rukavina.

He was known for his love of preparing wood for his wood burning stove.
