Ann Marie Fregelette

Ann Marie (nee Vacco) Fregelette, 81, of North Collins died Feb. 24.

She was the wife of the late James Fregelette; mother of Deborah Fregelette Draper, Donna (Paul) Henning and Diane Fregelette Jermain; grandmother of Brian, Sara, Andrea and Richard; and sister of the late Carmella Pivater.

Visitation was held from the Wentland Funeral Home in North Collins. A Mass of Christian burial was held Feb. 27 from the Holy Spirit Church in North Collins.

Paul Chiavetta

Paul Chiavetta, 63, of Brant died Feb. 25 in Seneca Manor Health Care, after a battle with brain cancer.

He was a member of the Farnham Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the Nickel City Road Runners. He was co-owner of his family business, Chiavetta’s Catering Inc., where he was nicknamed “Super Paul.”

He was the husband of Marie (nee Hannotte) Chiavetta; father of Nina Chiavetta and Christina (Jordan) Stapf; stepfather of Cara and Erin Sweeney; grandfather of Brielle Christina Stapf; brother of Thomas (Barbara) Chiavetta, Kathy (Vinnie) Keough, Nancy Chiavetta and Peter (Diane Leberman) Chiavetta; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held from the Addison Funeral Home Inc. of Angola. A Mass of Christian burial was held from Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church of Farnham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Thomas and Eleanor Chiavetta Scholarship Fund, to benefit students at Lake Shore Central Senior High School.

Robert Georgi


Robert Georgi

Robert Georgi, 52, of East Concord, formerly of Hamburg, died Feb. 24.

He was the husband of Ramona (nee Way) Georgi; father of Harley and Wade Georgi; son of Norma (nee Bosewell) Hale and the late David Georgi; stepfather of Brian Hummel; brother of Donna Brach and grandfather of Raelissa Krzemien.

A celebration of his life will be held on June 6.

Catherine Isula

Catherine (nee Retchless) Isula of Lackawanna died March 1.

She was the wife of the late David Isula Sr.; mother of Randy Scott, Robin Joyner, Renee (David Isula Jr.) Scott, Tanya (Todd) Palmer and Tracy (Dwayne) Fields; grandmother of 15; great-grandmother of one; daughter of the late Willis and Alma Retchless; sister of Charles and Robert Retchless; also survived by other family members and friends.

Karl Mladek

Karl Mladek, 92, of Angola died Feb. 25.

He was retired from the Ford Stamping Plant and was a past president and life member of Club Lorelei.

He was the husband of the late Paula Mladek; father of Rita (Robert) Williams and Brigitte (Philip) Boyer; grandfather of Jennifer (Duane) Sugg, Valerie (Rob) Joslyn, Patti (Shane) Fiutko, Robert Williams, Andrea (Scott) Galligan, Julie Williams, Kimberly (Dave) Gasiewicz, Cheryl (Ron) Hornberger and Philip Boyer; also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from the Addison Funeral Home Inc. of Angola. A Mass of Christian burial was held from Most Precious Blood Church of Angola. Interment was in Saint Vincent de Paul Cemetery of North Evans.

Ann Moore

Ann (nee Rider) Moore, 83, formerly of Angola, died Feb. 25 in the Eden Heights Adult Home.

She was the mother of Kathleen (John) Emhof, Laura (Alex) Whittinghill, Charles (Sherri) Moore and Janet Moore; sister of Mary Young, Joan Rider, John (late Anne) Rider and the late Thomas, William (Eleanor) and James Rider; grandmother of Wayland “A.J.” Whittinghill IV, Andrew (Jennie) and Robert Emhof; also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends at Eden Heights.

Visitation and a funeral service were held from the Addison Funeral Home Inc. of Angola. Interment was in Alden Evergreen Cemetery.

James Nagy


James Nagy

James Nagy, 79, of Hamburg died Feb. 26.

He was a retired metallurgist. He was born in Lackawanna and attended Woodlawn schools. He was the first co-senior class president of Frontier Central High School.

He received an associate of science degree from Erie Community College in metallurgy, a bachelor of metallurgical engineering degree from Youngtown State University in Ohio and a Master of Science degree in science education from Canisius College. After attending the Empire State Military Academy, he served as commanding officer of the 2nd Air Target Detachment, 209 Artillery, New York Army National Guard.

He worked as a metallurgist at the Trico Products Company and the Republic Steel Company, and for 34 years at Erie Community College, where he was eventually the chairman of the engineering science department and the materials science department. He was a metallurgical consultant for the Technical Advisory Service for Attorneys in Philadelphia, Pa. for 40 years. He also was a metallurgical consultant to many local metal working companies.

He was chairman of the American Society for Metals and secretary for 30 years; he was chairman and fellow of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing.

He was the husband of the late Dolores (nee Gretka) Nagy; father of Jacqueline (Brian) Wright and Linda (Scott) Johnston; grandfather of Alexander, Christian and Jonathan Wright; brother of Robert (Leona Ayers) Nagy.

Visitation and a funeral service were held from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home’s Hamburg Chapel.

Stanley Paradowski

Stanley Paradowski Jr., 90, of Langford died Feb. 27.

He was a member of the North Collins Senior Citizens and a founding member of the Langford-New Oregon Volunteer Fire Company.

He was the husband of Maria (nee Sterlace) Paradowski; father of Barbara (Paul Houle) Paradowski and David (Natalie) Paradowski; son of the late Stanley and Sabina Paradowski; grandfather of Raymond (Lois) and the late Eleanor Paradowski.

A Mass of Christian burial was held from Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Langford. Arrangements were made by the Wentland Funeral Home of North Collins.

Dorothy Sessanna

Dorothy (nee Toepfer) Sessanna, 52, of Boston died March 1.

She was the wife of Daryl Sessanna; mother of Kimberly and Sarah Sessanna; daughter of Virginia and the late Karl Toepfer; sister of Kevin and Bryan (Lisa) Toepfer; grandmother of Joshua, Jenna and Jason Kelly.

A memorial service will be held from the Donald Demmerley Funeral Home Inc., located at 21 Pierce Ave. in Hamburg, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 8. There will be no prior visitation.

Mary Teresita Sieradzki


Mary Teresita Sieradzki

Sister Mary Teresita Sieradzki, 86, died Feb. 24 at Immaculate Conception Convent.

She was born Dorothy Mary Sieradzki in Detroit, Mich. to the late Frederick and Mary (nee Szelag). She became a postulant of the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Joseph in 1948 and professed her final vows in 1953.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business education from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wis.

She worked in the field of education and office management for 62 years, 22 as general treasurer for the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph. She taught at many locations, including Saint Vincent in North Evans and Immaculata Academy in Hamburg. She also held various office positions in many locations. In 1991, she returned to the Motherhouse, where she was the general secretary until 1992.

She danced the polka at family celebrations and community parties and she traveled with her sister companions.

She is survived by her brother Fred (Dolores); also by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A wake service and memorial prayer service were held from Immaculate Conception Convent in Hamburg. A Mass of Christian burial was held from the convent chapel on March 1. Burial was in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Cheektowaga.

Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph.

Gertrude Todorof

Gertrude (nee Kencel) Todorof, 97, of Blasdell died Feb. 26.

She was a homemaker.

She was the wife of the late William Todorof; mother of Eleanor (Norman) Verbanic, William and John (Karen) Todorof; grandmother of 11 grandchildren; great-grandmother of 20 and great-great-grandmother of two; sister of the late John, Brownie, Randy and Joseph Kencel.
Visitation was held from the John J. Kaczor Funeral home’s Blasdell/Lackawanna Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial was held from Our Lady of Bistrica Church. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.

David Weller

David Weller of Blasdell died Feb. 24.

There will be no prior visitation. A private funeral service will be held.
