Village crews promptly solved problems Published: 08-27-2009

During the first two weeks of August, we encountered a couple of bothersome problems. As a company (hired by Erie County) worked to install a drainage system along out street, they struck the water line connected to our house. The end result was a complete discoloration of all water from the outlets in our home. We sought help from the village Water and Sewer Division and they arrived within 10 minutes after our call. The crew completely checked all our water lines and the soft-water system, ran various tests and eventually successfully solved the problem by restoring clean water throughout the residence.
Sunday’s (August 9) storm dropped numerous trees on our property. Having finally completed removal of all limbs, we were unable to place them curbside since the drainage work was still under way. The job foreman informed us that if any branches were placed in their work area, they would have to be removed ASAP. Contacting Superintendent of Public Works Karl Lux and explaining our dilemma, he stated that if we could place all the wood debris near the street immediately, the village would pick everything up by 7 a.m. The Streets Division arrived at 6:15 and within 15 minutes, they had completed the job — problem solved.
To Superintendent of Public Works Karl Lux, David Sullivan and his Water and Sewer Division, and Mark Grigsby and his Streets Division crew, we extend our utmost appreciation for your rapid responses and assistance in overcoming the difficulties we had faced. It’s great to have such proficient village of Springville employees working for us.
