Police blotter from the Oct. 10 edition of The Sun

Angola man arrested in Evans

Evans Patrolman Nathan Miller conducted a traffic stop at 7:38 p.m. on Sept. 18 and said that the driver, Kevin Kandra, 17, of Angola, was acting nervous and had his seatbelt off.

Police asked if anything illegal was in the vehicle. Kandra said, “I have some weed. It’s in my pocket,” and handed Miller a bag containing marijuana.

The offender was placed under arrest and told Miller that more paraphernalia was inside the car. Police located a pill container with cannabis, a metal grinder and a glass pipe. The subject was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and issued an appearance ticket.

Hamburg teen arrested for possession
Vlado Mihallofski, 18, of the town of Hamburg, was arrested at 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 13 for unlawful possession of marijuana.

When town of Hamburg Police arrived on the scene, the subject fled. Officer Vincent Pupo followed Mihallofski over the backyard fence, sustaining an injury to his calf.

Officer Mindy Jendrowski followed the subject by car and located the individual in the lot of Dunn Tire. Mihallofski was subsequently placed under arrest.

The subject told police that he had marijuana in his pocket. He was processed and held, pending arraignment.

Hamburg man arrested for DWAI

Holland troopers stopped a white Chevrolet Cavalier for moving from a lane unsafely on Southwestern Boulevard in the town of Orchard Park at 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 28.

According to police, the operator, Angelo Montante, 22, of Hamburg, showed signs of intoxication, failed roadside sobriety tests and smelled of marijuana. He was placed under arrest for driving while ability impaired by drugs and a voluntary blood test sample was received.

A search of the vehicle revealed that the subject was in possession of more than 13 ounces of cannabis. Montante was charged with DWAI-drugs, an A misdemeanor; criminal possession of marijuana third, an E felony and traffic violations.

The subject was arraigned in the town of Orchard Park Court and is scheduled to reappear, at a later date.

Hamburg police make arrest in robbery case
The town of Hamburg Police have charged 29-year-old Joseph Kull of Hamburg with three robberies committed in September.

Kull was charged with the Sept. 8 robbery of the Kwik Fill at Southwestern Boulevard at South Park Avenue, the Sept. 20 robbery of the 7-Eleven at Southwestern Boulevard at Sowles Road and the Sept. 22 robbery of the same Kwik Fill.

Police received many tips about Kull and, at 4 p.m. on Sept. 30, a search warrant was executed at Kull’s residence, where evidence associated with the robberies was discovered.

The subject was arraigned in Hamburg Town Court and is due back in at 10 a.m. on Oct. 18.

Boston burglary arrests
At noon on Oct. 4, New York State Police received a call from a neighbor regarding a possible burglary in progress on Back Creek Road in Boston.

The neighbor followed the three suspects, who fled the area in a black Kia SUV, and also notified the police about the issue.

Sergeant Tom Dugan of the Boston barracks located the suspect vehicle on a dirt road off Cole Road in Boston.

Michael Dulski, 22, of Blasdell; Zachary McMahon, 19, of Orchard Park and Jeffrey Pusateri, 18, of Lackawanna were taken into custody, with the assistance of the Erie County Sheriff’s Department.

The three suspects were charged with burglary in the third degree and were arraigned in the town of Boston Court. They were remanded to the Erie County Holding Center, in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

Jacob Russell arrested for possession
Evans Patrolman Nathan Miller arrested Jacob Russell, 24, of Farnham, for unlawfully possessing marijuana at 11:12 p.m. on Sept. 15.

Police stopped the subject and observed a marijuana grinder in the car. Russell said, “I have some weed in here,” and pointed to a dashboard compartment. The subject was arrested and issued an appearance ticket.

Woman arrested on warrant
Denise Isaac, 30, of Irving, was arrested by Evans Lieutenant Bradley DiMartino for a bench warrant out of the Erie County Sheriff’s Department for failure to pay fines for driving while ability impaired.

The arrest took place in Evans at 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 12.

Evans man arrested for possession
Clifford Norton, 38, of Evans was arrested at 7:13 p.m. on Sept. 29 by Evans Patrolman Jeffrey DeVinney.

The subject was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, after patrol discovered cannabis and paraphernalia in Norton’s vehicle.

The individual was issued an appearance ticket.

Cherry Creek woman arrested in Evans
Ashley Hanrahan, 25, of Cherry Creek, N.Y. was arrested by Evans police for criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument and moving from lane unsafely.

Evans Patrolman Jeffrey Mayer stopped Hanrahan’s vehicle at 9:46 p.m. on Sept. 22. The subject admitted to having heroin in her purse and police found three white envelopes containing heroin, a metal spoon with heroin residue and a hypodermic needle.

Hanrahan was charged and released on an appearance ticket.

Lackawanna man arrested for DWI
Erie County Sheriff’s deputies Brad Ballantyne and Tim Colling stopped a vehicle, operated by 32-year-old Justin Roncone of Lackawanna, for failure to keep right on Route 219.

The incident took place on Sept. 2.

A breath test showed that Roncone had a blood alcohol level of .24 percent, three times the legal limit. The subject was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and was transported to the Erie County Holding Center, on $250 bail.
