Crash on Genesee Road causes injury

SPRINGVILLE — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit investigated a two-vehicle serious injury crash on Jan. 4 at 10 a.m.

Jesse Gens, 22, of Gowanda, was driving northbound on Trevett Road, in a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, where he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Trevett and Genesee roads.

As Gens’ vehicle entered the intersection, it was struck by a 2013 Ford F150LT pickup, traveling eastbound on Genesee Road, driven William Howles, 66, of the town of Eden.

Gens was transported by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Howles and his passenger, Janet Howles, 64, were not injured in the crash.

The official cause of the crash is still under investigation.
