On Thursday, March 21, Brian Porter, an award-winning artist from Lockport who teaches art at Erie Community College will present a program on the human figure. The artist, who holds an master’s degree from the New York Academy of Art will both lecture and demonstrate his techniques for representing the human figure. His art involves drawings, paintings and sculpture based on the human body.
Porter has an extensive resume of advanced study and honors including works commissioned locally and nationally including being chosen to create a sculptural replica of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Buffalo for a Christmas White House display.
The program will serve as an introduction to painting the human figure for those new to the art form as well as being of interest to experienced figure painters.
The program will take place at 7:30 p.m. following the Members’ Meeting of the Centennial Art Center at the Little Red Schoolhouse at 3185 Amsdell Road in Hamburg.
