Penn Dixie’s Volunteer Training program is on Saturday, March 16, 8:30 a.m. to noon in the auditorium of the Gateway Executive Office, located at 3556 Lake Shore Road in Blasdell. Volunteers are needed to help with exhibits, school groups, scouts, public days, special events, astronomy nights, Earth Day clean-up activities, program development, membership recruitment, fundraising events, marketing and several other activities to help promote and expand the programs and operations of the Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center in Hamburg.
Junior and senior high students and adults are welcome. Non-members are $25 each and Penn Dixie members are free. After completion of this morning program, those interested in visiting the Penn Dixie Site will be given a tour. The training program will be followed up with opportunities to participate in spring bird walks, evening and day time astronomy programs, fossil collecting, training with school and scout groups and scout programs. There are also opportunities to introduce mentally and physically challenged children and adults to Penn Dixie.
Helping introduce thousands of children and adults to the many natural science programs and special events at Penn Dixie and off-site locations is a very rewarding experience.
Additional information and registration may be made by calling 627-4560.
