Hamburg raised musician Tommy Z returns to his home town to have a CD release concert/party for his latest CD called “Sometimes.” The follow up to the critically acclaimed, “Universal Love” will be unveiled at the Armor Inn Tap Room Nov. 30 at 9 p.m. where copies of the CD will be available. The self-produced effort features ten new songs most of which were penned by Tommy. This effort is poised be his strongest yet, and demonstrates more fully his command of singing, guitar playing and songwriting in the style descibed as “soul-rockin’ blues” than previous works. This is the first of a number of planned release events, as well as national/international touring in support of the disc.
Tommy has performed with a who’s who of blues, roots, and rock performers (including Grammy winner Pinetop Perkins from the Muddy Waters Band, Derek Trucks, BB King, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, etc), and has toured all over the world to perform (including USO tours for US troops) in Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Japan, South Korea, Djibouti, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Turkey, Guam, Alaska. His music has also been heard in film and television on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, the NHL (St. Louis Blues victory anthem), Animal Planet, Bravo, A&E/Biography, etc. He’s been voted Top Blues Guitarist/Vocalist/Band numerous times at the Buffalo Music Awards. All of these accomplishments have earned him an induction into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, but this new CD shows an artist still growing and improving while maintaining the tradition, groove and vibrant energy that’s essential to roots music.
