LAKE SHORE — Students have kicked off the school year in the Lake Shore senior high bands, under the direction of Eric Blodgett and Carrie Poissant.

The students are currently preparing for their Nov. 4 concert. Senior flutist Makayla Arcara said, “It’s always exciting to prepare new music for our community. Their support at our concerts always helps us to perform at a higher level.”

The music department is planning another guest artist concert, this year. This event typically brings an international music event to the community.

The department announced plans to focus on the continuing support of the elementary and middle school music students. High school students will be attending practice sessions and rehearsals at the elementary and middle school buildings, to help the beginning instrumentalists.

Junior clarinetist Kennedy Cymerman said, “I wish I had the opportunity to work with a high school student when I was younger. It will really make an impact with the beginners.”

The music department’s calendar is available at www.lakeshorecsd.org. For more information, call Blodgett at 926-2117.
