Painter coming to Burchfield Penney in Buffalo

The Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society will feature painter and teacher Mark Mehaffey, the Spring 2013 Workshop Artist, as the demonstrator at their May 16 meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, 1200 Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo.
Coming from Michigan, Mehaffey is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and Watercolor USA Honor Society.
He has won major awards in many juried exhibitions including the Beverly Green Memorial Purchase Award - National Watercolor Society, the Silver Medal of Honor - American Watercolor Society, the M. Grumbacher Gold Medal - Allied Artists of America, the Skyledge Award - National Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the Ruth Rosenau Silver Medallion - Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors.
Mehaffey’s work has appeared most recently in The Best of Watercolor, Splash 10 and 11, Secrets of Award Winning American Watercolor Artists, and he is a featured artist in “Art Journey America: Landscapes.”
He is a popular juror, workshop artist and lecturer. His watercolor book, ”Creative Watercolor Workshop,” was released in the summer of 2005 and re-released in the summer of 2012. Creative Catalyst and North Light Publications have produced six instructional videos featuring Mehaffey’s work.
