The Hamburg Palace, located at 31 Buffalo St., is showing “Casablanca” on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.
“Casablanca” is everyone’s favorite romance movie, and what better time to see it than on Valentine’s Day with your date at the historic Hamburg Palace. The movie is a perfect blend of romance, action, adventure, intrigue and war. “Casablanca” has it all. The film won best picture, best director and best original screenplay Oscars for the year and it is on top film lists of all-time for both critics and fans. The ensemble cast includes Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre, but it’s the expert direction that sets the film apart.
World War II has engulfed Europe, reaching all the way to Rick Blaine’s Cafe Americain in French-held Morocco. The Nazis have overrun France and are heading into its unoccupied possessions in Africa - and all kinds of people are trying to escape by way of Casablanca.
