“Ombis: Alien Invasion” is playing at the Hamburg Palace on Saturday, May 18 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 at 12:01 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Western New York’s award winning independent film studio, DefTone Pictures Studios, Inc. has been very busy this year filming their epic science fiction thriller.
The movie, titled “Ombis: Alien Invasion,” was filmed all over this area, including Boston, Colden and Springville. In fact, the Boston-Colden area was the chosen filming site for the meteor that crashes to earth, bringing the deadly virus, Ombis, to the innocent inhabitants of the fictional town, Metzburg.
The film stars local talent Richard Satterwhite, Jason John Beebe, Sara Manzella, Kathy Murphy, Alexander S. McBryde and Michael Sciabarrasi. The film also includes hundreds of local people as extras.
Metzburgh, a quiet village and former industrial town, used to be a prosperous and happy place to live. With the demise of the grain factories, the glory days are long since past. The film follows Mark Lowe (Jason John Beebe) and his ex-girlfriend Lucy Greenheart (Sara Manzella) who are deep in the throes of a lovers’ quarrel, when a meteor suddenly crashes in the woods outside of town.
Unable to stop the plague-like substance that the meteorite carries, the townsfolk begin to succumb, one by one, to the virulent viral slime. The damage takes it’s toll and the community collectively fights for their survival. They are no match for the virus which begins to mutate the unfortunate victims into a frightening alien form. Things quickly go from horrible to horrifying as the survivors realize that another force is at work, in the form of the alien mercenary known only as the “Nemesis.”
The Nemesis will stop at nothing to eradicate the virus, but with no regard to sparing human life. In this terrible struggle for survival, who will ultimately win? Who will be spared?
