Lake Effect Harmony Chorus brought home the gold

SING FOR THE WORLD — Lake Effect Harmony Chorus will host a new member event and open house in Boston on Sept. 17.
BOSTON — Lake Effect Harmony Chorus, whose members represent 17 communities throughout Western New York, will host a new member event and open house at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 in the rehearsal hall of Faith United Church of Christ, located at 8651 Boston State Road.

Women 18 years and older who sing may attend. Guests will listen to a performance by the chorus and may also participate in a rehearsal.

Prospective new members are also entitled to five free vocal classes

Lake Effect Harmony Chorus has been performing at community and civic events throughout the area for many years. The group has received numerous awards for outstanding vocal performances at the regional level.

Again this year, it received the first place gold medal award in its division of small choruses competition, encompassing all of New York state and most of Ontario.

Under the co-direction of Sonne Durphy and Sue Gentile, both music majors and vocal educators, Lake Effect Harmony secured its victory by achieving the highest score in the categories of music, showmanship, sound and expression.
