Standing: Nick Ortiz (All-Federation Division I Second Team), Gavin Evancho (All-Federation Division I First-Team) and Bob Piotrowicz (All-Federation Large Schools).

Six Hamburg players were honored, five from Frontier and another two from St. Francis when the Western New York Varsity Hockey Federation named its all-stars for the 2012-13 season.

Each school featured a First Team All-Federation player as Frontier’s Bob Piotrowicz made it for the All-League Large Schools and Hamburg’s Chris Moses and St. Francis’ Tyler McTigue earned All League Small Schools. Piotrowicz became the third player in program history to garner this honor after leading the league in scoring and breaking the Frontier school record with 26 assists and 49 points. Moses was also selected to the Second Team All-State. He and McTigue were two of the top scorers among Federation Small Schools.

Also for Hamburg, forward Brendan McFall, the team’s second leading scorer, and Tyler Bellitto, a converted defenseman, were selected to First Team Division III, while Austin Bishop, who missed the better part of two seasons with an injury before returning to form, and Colin Coppola, who led the league in assists, were both selected to Second Team Division III. Brett Ross was a D-III honorable mention, but head coach John McFall sees him as deserving of more because the junior is one of the most difficult players to play against and such a fierce competitor. He was selected to the Second Team Division III last year.

After finishing a second consecutive 15-win season, Frontier also saw senior forward Gavin Evancho and junior defenseman Alex Buczek earn First Team Division I honors, while senior goalie Cooper Soto and forward Nick Ortiz each earned Second Team Division I Honors. Also for St. Francis, senior defenseman Mike Prentice was selected to the Division III Second Team.
