Registration being held for Lake Shore Little League
The next Lake Shore Little League registration will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the club house at 4928 Rogers Road. You may also mail your registration form with Baseball/softball and raffle payment to P.O. Box 451, Athol Springs, N.Y. 14010.
Section VI seeking high school athletics officials
Section VI is seeking highly motivated individuals that would like to become certified sports officials to officiate contests for member schools in Western New York competing in athletics at the modified, junior varsity and varsity levels. This is a part-time opportunity through the Interscholastic Sports Officials Section VI, NYSPHSAA, Inc. Candidates must be at least 18-years-old, complete a certificate program, abide by NYSED qualifications/requirements and have knowledge and experience in the area of interest. New Era ages 8-9 baseball team holding tryout
Team New Era will hold tryouts for its ages 8-9 Rookie team travel program on Monday, Feb. 25 and Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at New Era Park on 3950 Broadway in Depew. The Rookie program is designed to expose players to a higher level of play while intended not to interfere with their current summer baseball program. Frontier baseball fundraiser set for March 9
The Frontier High School baseball team is traveling to Myrtle Beach, S.C. this April to play four games in the Mingo Bay tournament over the Easter break. A group of Frontier baseball alumni have organized a party to raise money for that southern trip. The money from the party will be donated to the athletic department in the name of baseball, to be used to defray the cost of the varsity/junior varsity baseball trip. The party will be held on Saturday, March 9 at the Lake Shore Fire Hall from 7 to 11 p.m. Beer, pop, wine, roast beef and snacks will be served. Door prizes, 50/50 drawing and a Chinese auction will also be available. Tickets are $20 and available at the door. This is not a school-sponsored event. You must be at least 21-years-old to attend. Hamburg accepting Wall of Fame nominations
The nomination committee for the Hamburg Bulldog Wall of Fame will accept 2013 nominations until April 1. The program was started in September 2010 with a ceremony held by the Hamburg Alumni Foundation. Now also being honored, along with Sports Legends and Distinguished Alumni, are Distinguished Educators. Nominations will be accepted online at www.hamburgalumnifoundation.org. Next yearís event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Grange Building at the Fairgrounds in Hamburg. If you are aware of someone who should be considered, complete a form and submit it electronically or download the form, print and return by mail or e-mail. Download a form or complete one online. Paper nominations can be picked up at the Hamburg Administration Building on Abbot Road.
