Hamburg American Legion golf outing set for June 29
The second annual Hamburg Veteranís Golf Tournament to benefit the VA Hospital will be held Saturday, June 29 with a shotgun start an noon at Concord Crest Country Club. The entry fee of $75 includes stroke-play golf with a cart, lunch, steak dinner, prizes, and a photo of each four-some. Lunch begins at 11 a.m. and then the dinner is after golf starting 5 p.m. Checks made out to ďVeterans Golf TournamentĒ can be dropped off at the Hamburg American Legion Post 527 on 2 Memorial Drive off of Evans St. in the Village of hamburg or mailed to Jim Koester on 7152 Combs Drive, Hamburg, NY 14075. Kaney leads Hamburg Womenís Golf Club tourney
The top finishers from the Hamburg Womenís Golf Clubís Criers Tournament were Gail Kaney in first place with a 28 and Patty Blake (28) in Class A; Alice Say in first with a 26 and Suzanne Mandell (27) in Class B; Linda Rayburg in first with a 27 and Lynn Churchill (29) in Class C; and Lisa Burnett in first with a 24 and Dorothy Dworakowski (26) in Class D.
Gowanda Country Club Ladies League results
Top finishers from the Gowanda Country Club Ladies League play on May 1 included for low gross, Priscilla Graupman with a 46, Lynn Gotsch (48), Kim Gier (48) and Joyce Bigelow (49), and for low net, Tina Fracella with a 34, Dawn Zopp (37), Trudy Jackson (39), Sue Martin (39) and Jan Parker (39).
Hamburg Menís Ď65í Club weekly winners
Top finishers from the Hamburg Menís Golf Clubís ď65Ē competition during Week One were Steve Dearth with a 67, Jeff Smith (68), Rich Suto (68) and Art Steele (69) in Class A; Sid Dunston with a 66, Dennis Conklin (66), Charley Brown (69) and Jerry OíMara (70) in Class B; and Jim Voye with a 68, Jack Fritsch (74), Dan Brackenridge (75) and Corky McDonald (77) in Class C. In Week Two, a Member-Member Tournament, John Kovacs and Jim Steigler took first with a net of 60, followed by Tom Kuznicki and Jim Dasey (61), Tom Fosset and Dan Kuczmarski (62) and Charley Brown and Mike McCarthy (62) in Class A. Matt Forrest and Rich Ranic topped Class B with a 60 and Dennis Conklin and Dave Donnelly and Jim Benzinger and Jim Jackson were both second with a 60.
Hamburg Menís Golf Club weekly results
At the Hamburg Menís Golf Clubís Spring Major, which featured a good turnout of 65 members, top scores were posted by Mark Flowers with a 76, followed by Joe Williams with a 77 and also, Tim Buckley with a net of 70 in the Nickluas Flite. Kim Andrews, with an 82, led the way in the Palmer Division, and was closely followed by Ken Fierle (83) and Rich Bartula (net of 71). Other top prize winners included, in the Player Section: Jim Stewart (82) for low gross, Tom Tollar (86) taking second and Joe Buchwald (net of 69) for low net; and in the Trevino Division, Joe Walner (92) for low gross, Andy Goodbery (97) taking second and Roger Ferguson (net of 76) for low net. More than $300 in awards and prizes went to the top scorers at the event.
