The Lake Shore boys soccer team lost to visiting Pioneer 2 – 1 on Oct. 7, in rainy and wet conditions. Lake Shore held its breast cancer awareness game that day, as well.
Pioneer scored the first 2 goals of the match, while Lake Shore scored with 7 minutes left and pressured Pioneer until time expired, but the Eagles ultimately ran out of time.
Senior captain Wade Bergum scored the Eagles’ lone goal, as he finished off of a direct kick. Lake Shore’s league record now stands at 5 – 4 and 7 – 5 overall.
The Eagles bounced back from a 2 – 0 loss the game prior to East Aurora, by winning at Springville-Griffith Institute by 4 – 1 on Oct. 3. Bergum scored a hat trick and Chad Wilkie scored the other Eagles’ goal. Lake Shore controlled much of the possession but had to fight for its goals against S-GI.
