Fishing contest at Andover Ponds Aug. 3

The Town of Andover Wetlands Project will be the scene for the annual Kids Fishing Contest, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Andover Ponds on Route 21, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Registration will be begin at 7:30. Trophies will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. There is no entry fee.
New York Sen. Cathy Young will be on hand to award trophies to the three top finishers in four age groups, from 5 – 15. Awards will also be given for largest bass and largest carp and an honorary award will be given, in memory of senators Jess Present and Pat McGee, who were supporters of the Wetlands Project since its inception and who organizers said displayed the qualities of perseverance, dedication and persistence.
Refreshments and food will be available, free of charge. There will also be drawings and raffles for door prizes. Volunteers are needed to help with the contest. Those who would like to help or receive more information may call 585-593-1624.
