Frontier’s Rojek makes it official with Marist, signing for volleyball

ROJEK TO MARIST — Sydney Rojek led Frontier to a sectional title in her final of four years as a starting setter. She play for Marist next year.
Marist Volleyball head coach Tom Hanna announced the signing of a pair of student athletes to play for the Red Foxes women’s volleyball team. Included in that freshman class for next year is Frontier High School senior Sydney Rojek, along with Kelsey Ediger.

Rojek, a 5-foot-10 setter from Lake View, will join Division I Marist after being a four-year starter for Frontier, which won two sectional titles with her in the lineup. She also plays for the Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club.

Rojek was also a three-year captain for Frontier. In 2011 and 2012, she was named to Third Team All-State and was selected to First Team All-Western New York in 2012. From 2010-12, Rojek was First Team All-Western NY, All-ECIC and a NY state scholar athlete.

“Sydney is a great athlete who makes us better immediately with her solid skills, competitiveness and work ethic,” Hanna said. “Her experiences with both Frontier Central and Niagara Frontier have her well prepared for the college game. We’re excited to bring Syd into our program.”
