Krencik golf outing a success
The eighth annual Jeremy “Jer-Dog” Krencik Golf Tournament featured 75 golfers, raised funds to support Town of Hamburg youth golf programs and resulted in a tie for first place. Winners of the tournament held Aug. 24 at 18 Mile Creek Golf Course in Hamburg were Doug McKenney, Matt McKenney, Neil McKenney, Ryan Skibitsky, Bobby Slisz, Doug Steen, Sr., Doug Steen, Jr. and Jay Partridge.
The tournament, which is in memory of Krencik, an avid golfer who was killed at the age of 14 in a snowmobile accident, was a nine-hole scramble format which also ran a Casino Hole, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and a Chinese auction drawing. Following the tournament, a post-event party was held at O’Brien’s Pub in Eden.
“We wish to give a very special thanks to Jeremy’s family and friends who helped with and participated in our tourney; specifically Jeremy’s mom, Sheryl Hage, the driving force behind the event” said Luke Sullivan, Town of Hamburg recreation supervisor.

Barbic, Bleech, Cervoni take HMGC top spots
The Hamburg Men’s Golf Club’s top finishers from its recent week-long event were Joe Barbic with 13 most fours or less in Class A; Bob Bleech with 18 most fives or less in Class B; and Jeff Cervoni with 17 most sixs or less in Class C. Also, Western new York Publinx completed in 2013 slate with a two-man scramble format championship. The top finishing duos from HMGAC included, in A-Flite, Chris Jentsch and Ken Beck with a 67, goo d for sixth out of 24 teams; and in B-Division, Craig Cummings and Bob Downey and Brian Teepell and Ron Witt, each with 70s, to tied for third among 22 pairs.
Hamburg Men’s ‘65’ Golf Club top finishers
Winners of the Hamburg Men’s “65” Club annual Ray Knapp Invitational Match Play Tournament were Joe Scott in Class A, Danny Schaefer in Class B and Jon Vogelman in Class C. Top finishers from the Hamburg Men’s ‘65’ Golf Club’s Week 18 play included in Class A, Jeff Smith and Dave Persons with a top net of 55, followed by Bob Newton and Dave Howe (59), Joe Kromer and Joe Kubik (59) and Tom Kuznicki and Ed Seifert (60); and in Class B, Russ Bonfessuto and Dick Mauer witha top net of 53. Jim McGuire and Pete McCormick (56), Del Jackson and Burt Hurd (57) and John Miller and Bob Smyczynski (58).

Top finishers from the Hamburg Women’s Golf Club’s Least Putts Tournament results held on Sept. 5 were, in Class A-1, Gretchen Anzinger with a12 and Pat Rosiek (12); in Class B-1, Cheryl Larson with a 14 and Patti Kinn (14); in Class C-1, Carol Ludlow with a 13 and Barbara Logan (13); and in Class D-1, Del Walter with a 14 and Mary Ann Krajcer (15).
