Dobson helps Fredonia to second at invite
The Fredonia State womenís swimming and diving team took second place to Oberlin College in its own three-day Invitational that took place over the weekend in Steele Hall. Among some of Fredoniaís top finishes, Hamburgís Lauren Dobson was part of a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.48 and the Eden H.S. graduate claimed third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:29.24. During Day Two of competition, Dobson was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.97). She also helped form the 400-yard medley relay squad finish fourth (4:07.90).
Warren nets 15 in Fredonia loss
Despite Jaimie Warren of Lakeview leading the Devils with 15 points and seven rebounds, Fredonia State fell 56-41 to Oneonta State on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Devils to 1-1 in SUNYAC play.
Hilbert come back falls short
The Hilbert College womenís basketball team battled back from a nine-point halftime deficit but tfell short in a 71-66 loss at Penn State Altoona. In falling to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play, Natalie Whitmanís 17 points led the Hawks and Kylie Reinholz and Courtney Coots added 14 points each. Amber Hay, in her first start, added 8 points, 4 assists and matched Whitmanís team-high 8 rebounds.
Hawks even AMCC mark at 1-1
Jerame Owens earned his third consecutive double-double to lead the Hilbert College menís basketball team to a 87-72 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over Penn State Altoona on Dec. 7. In improving to 1-1 on the season in the AMCC, Owens finished with 20 points, pulled in 11 rebounds and added 4 blocks on defense. Trevor Stark chipped in 17 points and 5 assists off the bench, while Xavier Major gave the Hawks 12 points and Nick Nadeau finished with 10 points and 2 blocks. CJ Hodge finished with 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and was 4-of-7 from the floor for 9 points.
