Those who missed out on the Eden Corn Festival can still come to Eden for some corn. All they have to do is run 3.1 miles for it.
The Eden 5K: A Run in the Country will be returning on Aug. 20. Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the race gun will sound at 6:30 p.m.
During the past few years, the race has emerged as a community event in the Southtowns’ agricultural heartland, adding locally grown corn to the post-race party.
The race will begin on Schoolview Road, head east to Jennngs Road, move north on Jennings Road, head south (left) onto Route 62 and end, after turning onto Legion Drive.
Registration can be completed online for a reduced rate until Aug. 16 and also be done on the day of the race.
The event will raise money for Eden Central School sports; it is put on by the Eden All-Sports Boosters.
During the last decade, approximately $50,000 has been raised for school sports in Eden, according to Elmer Ploetz, event coordinator.
“With the current state of school finances, we’re hoping to add even more to that in years to come,” he said.
Online registration and printable registration forms are available at www.buffalowave.com/5k.
