Sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted the Hamburg girls cross-country team as it ventured south to Long Point State Park on Sept. 14, to take a peek at the sectional course.
The Bulldogs responded with a fourth-place finish, behind No. 2 small school Maple Grove and No. 2 large school Starpoint. Also a ranked large school, Lockport nosed out the Bulldogs for third.
Erin Cuddihy and Hannah Fredriksen earned individual awards, while Isabel Luthringer and Erin Kane just missed out. Rosemary Herbst, Leah Covelli and Claire Herrmann rounded out the varsity effort.
In the junior varsity race, the Bulldogs recorded a nearly perfect score of 15. Their 17-point effort was led by the one through three finish of Olivia Luthringer, Morgan Lewis and Molly Kabza. Samantha Ruszczyk and Carol Connors were fifth and sixth, while Gabrielle LaRosa and Emily Puccio also earned individual awards. The Bulldogs’ next start is Saturday, Sept. 21 at the East Aurora Invitational.
