Hamburg Women’s Golf Club weekly results
Top finishers from the Hamburg Women’s Golf Club’s weekly tournament, Member/Guest 2013, from July 11, included on the front nine, Mary Ann McGuire, Stephanie Laipple, Elaine Palermo and Edna McDonald in first place, Robyn Boldt, Pam Bassett, Barbara Januchowski and Sandy Mally in second, Gwen Green, Kelly Ann Nawotka, Jean and Cory Larson and Carol Wahlenmayer in third and Nancy Phillips, Marie Lavis and Susan Hannel in fourth. On the back nine, leaders were Ilona Klein, Donna Anderson, Donna and Thelma Frauenhofer in first place, Linda Keyes, Sharon Walker, Karen Felser and Jean Kirst in second, Gretchen Anzinger, Cindy Vance, Florence O’Connor and Arlene Betker in third and Cindy Sullivan, Sharon Stanes, Karen Geiger and Pat Tanner in fourth. In the Top Closest competition winner sincluded for Front Pin, Gail Kaney; Front Line, Carol Ludlow: Back Pin, Cindy Wurster; and Back Line, Linda Keyes. Chairs for the event were Robyn Boldt and Chris O’Connor and committee consisted of Jayne Bernick, Mary Conciardo, Mary Beth Glatz, Gail Kaney, Marcia Mariani, Donna Suto and Diane Petrick.
Top two HMGC four-man teams qualify for championships
In recent Hamburg Men’s Golf Club events, the final four-man team qualifier produced a first-place finish from John Kennedy, Tom Tollar, Rich Bartula and Ken Fierle, who combined to score a low net of 128, while taking second were Jack Eszak, Jim Eddy, Walt Mazur and Craig Cummings with a 130. The top two foursomes advanced to the club championships in late August. Coming up is the HMGC’s annual Hall of Fame Classic. Last year’s champion Bill Widmer (scratch 67) will attempt to defend his title against the likes of top competitors Brad Golda, Chris Jentsch, Tim Manns and Joe Barbic. Event chairmen Don Buckley and Pat Loomis will host the event featuring more than 80 members. Also recently, current HMGC champion Johnathan Snyder, finished second, shooting a two-day total of 142, at the annual Erie County Amateur Championships held at the Elma Meadows Golf Course. He finished five strokes behind current 2013 Buffalo District Golf Association leading amateur Matt Stasiak.
Hamburg Senior Scramble tournament results
Top finisher at the Hamburg Senior Scramble tournament were, for men, Dennis Conklin, James MacTurk, Wayne Pedersen and Rich Pokojski in first place with a 31; followed by Sidney Dunston, Peter McCormick and Jerry O’Mara (31); Ed Steffan, Ray Suto, Gene Snusz (31); Joe Beale, Pete Foley and Pat Puckhaber (34); and Jim Gleason, Chuck Kelly, Joe Kubik and Jerry Sardina (34). For the women, top finishers included Betty Browne, Marie Lavis, Suzanne Mansell, Bernie Snusz in first place with a 39; followed by Edna McDonald, Nancy Wood, Nancy McCarthy and Kathleen Militello (42); Barb Logan, Karen Felser, Norma Kelly and Jean Kirst (42); and Nancy Burke, Grace Trimboli, Mary Collins and Linda Keyes (43).
Hamburg Men’s ‘65’ Club weekly results
Top finishers from the Hamburg Men’s Golf “65” Club’s Week 10 play from July 8-12 were Steve Dearth in first with a net of 64, followed by Burt Hurd (66), Dennis Conklin (66) and Mike McCarthy (67) in Class A; Bob Widdowson in first with a net of 57, followed by Danny Schaefer (62), Ed Seifert (66) and Gene Stancin (66) in Class B; and Will Kemp in first with a net of 60, followed by Dave Brackenridge (62), Rich Ranic (62) and Dave Donnelly (64) in Class C.
