LARSON GETS THE WIN — Sean Larson picked up the win of the first game of a Fredonia State doubleheader sweep.
The Fredonia State baseball team took home a pair of wins on March 14 in a doubleheader at Terry Park. Fredonia defeated Skidmore 7 – 2 and St. Lawrence 7 – 4. The offense combined for a total of 30 hits, including 17 in the night cap. In Game One, Sean Larson of Angola, threw eight strong innings to pick up his first win of the spring. The senior right-hander, who is a Saint Francis graduate, struck out seven, while scattering five hits and walking one. Ben Senior of Angola, a Lake Shore graduate, threw a scoreless ninth.Silveri to earn award coach’s award
Daemen College head men’s basketball coach Don Silveri will be recognized at the National Association of Basketball Coaches-Hillyard Champions Luncheon for leading his team to the regular-season championship in the East Coast Conference this season. The luncheon honors coaches from across the country at all levels of college basketball that have guided their teams to championships this year. The luncheon will be held on Friday, April 4 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel as part of the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Final Four festivities in North Texas. It will be his second time invited.
Silveri’s Wildcats raced to a 21 – 7 overall record this season, including a 17 – 3 mark in ECC games. The Wildcats closed the year by winning 16 straight conference games to win the league title in just their first year affiliated with the NCAA Division II conference. This year’s regular-season conference championship was Daemen’s fifth under Silveri, who boasts a 414 – 344 record in 25 years at the college and a 584 – 385 record in nearly 40 years total, as a college head coach.
