Lake View baseball/softball tryouts
Lake View baseball and softball travel team tryouts for boys 8-, 9-, 10-, 11- and 12-and-under and girls 10-and-under will be held Sept. 7, 14 and 21 at the Burke Road Fields in Lake View. On Sept. 7, the 8U, 9U and 10U boys will hold a tryout from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and the 11U and 12U boys from 1-3 p.m. On Sept. 14, the 8U and 10U boys and 10U girls will hold a tryout from 1-3 p.m. and the 9U boys from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The 10U girls will hold an additional tryout Sept. 21 1-3 p.m. Any player that did not participate in the Lake View league in 2013, must reside in the Town of Hamburg to be eligible. Skate Great to offer program in Hamburg
Skate Great will be holding a Learn to Skate/Beginner Hockey program at several Western New York ice rinks, including beginning Oct. 2 at the Hamburg Town Arena on 2982 Lakeview Road. Using the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program, and sanctioned by USA Hockey, the program serves the needs of both recreational and competitive figure skaters and provides a foundation of fundamental skating and hockey skills. An open house will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Hamburg Town Arena. Skate for free between 10 to 11 a.m. Skates are available to borrow at both locations, but quantity and sizes are limited. Skate Great is one of only 11 skating programs in the country to have more than 1,000 skaters. Hilbert College baseball clinic Sept. 28
The Hilbert College fall 2013 baseball clinic will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 with sessions for boys ages 7-12 and 13-17 at the college on 5200 South Park Ave. in Hamburg. Session I (for ages 7-12) will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and Session II (for ages 13-17) from noon-3 p.m. Instructors include Hawks’ head baseball coach Jim Pernick, assistant coaches and Hilbert players. Registration open for youth travel baseball
The Hamburg Junior Baseball League and the Village of Hamburg Recreation Department will be holding open tryouts for boys baseball players who are interested in playing travel baseball in 2014. Tryouts will be held at Legion Field in the Village of Hamburg the week of Monday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 22. There will be tryouts for the following age groups; 8-, 9-, 10-, 11-, 12-, 13- and 14-and-under. A detailed tryout schedule for all age groups can be found online at www.hjbsl.com.
