Hamburg Little Cagers registration underway
Registration is underway for the Hamburg Little Cagers youth basketball league, which is open to boys and girls in the age groups for boys and girls 7 – 8, 9 – 10, boys 11 – 12, girls 11 – 14 and boys 13 – 15. All ages are as of Dec. 31. Games will be on Saturdays, from December – March, at Frontier and Hamburg. The new 7 – 8 divisions will focus on skill development, with no Saturday games. Practices will be one weeknight per week. Registration ends on Saturday, Oct. 19. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Hamburg Youth Center on 200 Prospect Ave. Additional registration offerings will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the Hamburg Youth Center and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Frontier Middle School. Adaptive football clinics to start on Tuesdays
The town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services, in conjunction with the Donny Thiry Foundation, will hold one-hour adaptive football clinics at the Buffalo Bills Field House on four consecutive Tuesday evenings, Nov. 5 – 26. The clinics are formatted for individuals with Asperger’s syndrome/NVLD and high functioning autism (Find Your Niche) at 5:30 p.m. and for those with physical/mental disabilities and residents of group homes (Disabled but Able) at 6:30 p.m. The sessions provide participants with knowledge of the game, through a series of skill development stations. Only registered participants are allowed on the practice field. The charge allows participants to attend all four sessions and includes a football jersey. For more information, call 646-5145. Hamburg sets pilot Start Smart Lacrosse
The town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services is accepting registration for a new offering in its Start Smart programs geared as an introduction for young children to various sports. Start Smart Lacrosse is a six-week pilot instructional program open to children ages 5 – 7, who must be accompanied by a parent or other adult. Classes will be held from 7 – 8 p.m. on Thursdays from Oct. 10 – Dec. 5 at the Blasdell Elementary School gym on South Park Avenue in Blasdell. The fee includes a lacrosse stick and ball.
