Hamburg gymnasts finish regular season 13 – 3

The Hamburg girls gymnastic team finished its regular season this past week, with a league record of 3 – 2 and 13 – 3 overall. Sophomore Samantha Miller and eighth grader Katheryn Dehlinger helped lead the team in divisional competition.
Miller recorded a 9.25 on vault and 9.1 on balance beam. Dehlinger took a 9.1 on the vault and 9.35 on the balance beam. Dehlinger and Miller will compete in the all-around competition Friday, Nov. 1 in the Section VI championships at Kenmore West.
In total, 17 Hamburg gymnasts have qualified for the sectional competition.
Other highlights came from junior sectional-qualifier Taylor Thurnherr, who recorded a personal best on the uneven bars and has been consistent in her other events. Sophomore Claire Eichner has also qualified to compete in the all-around at the sectional championships, joining other qualifiers, senior and captain Renee Meinhold, juniors Erica Hornstrom, Meghan Hagerty and Amanda Lenau, sophomore Ericka Wicher, freshman Rebecca Knighton, Julia Vail and Danielle Janak, eighth graders Jillian Murzynski and Alexa Wicher and seventh graders Hannah Fox, Samantha Vail and Emily O’Connor.
Also, this past weekend, there were notable performances at the Halloween Invitational. Meaghan Doyle took second place in the all-around, with a fourth-place finish on vault (8.25), seventh on beam and uneven bars and ninth on the floor exercise. Clarissa Ott took seventh in the all-around, including a sixth-place finish on floor.
Other highlights included, on vault, Erika Wicher taking second, Hagerty, third, Janak, fourth, O’Connor, fifth, Lily Joyce, Knighton, Jamie Hornstrom and Lenau, sixth, Alyssa Krawczyk, eighth, Sam Vail, ninth, and Murzynski, Julia Vail and Nicole Walawander, 10th; uneven bars, Krawczyk, fourth, Lenau, sixth, Sam Vail, 10th; and balance beam, Knighton, fourth, Allison Graser, fifth, Janak, sixth, Lenau, eighth, and Meinhold, 10th; and floor: Hagerty, second, Ott, sixth, and O’Connor, 10th.
