North Collins winter student-athletes honored



The North Collins Varsity Club held its annual Winter Sports Banquet on March 6 at the elementary school cafetorium. Student athletes, guests, and coaches enjoyed a meal catered by Three Star Restaurant. Other highlights included The National Anthem being sung by Ted Winkey, the father of athletic director Kathryn Shelley. Students honored at the banquet as scholar-athletes during the 2013-2014 basketball season were Aaron Strauss, Jacob Fyock,David Fera, Maddie Burgess, CarlyRichardson, Sam Gier, Aurora Klawinski, Destiny Kennedy, Jenna Keppel and Arrika Bley. Among girls varsity basketball players honored as CCAA III All-Stars were, for League Sportmanship, Carly Richardson, Second Team, Arrika Bley, and Honorable Mention, Sam Gier. The team also gave out team awards for Most Improved Player, going to Jenna Keppel; Most Valuable Player, to Taren Mancuso. Coach’s Eagle Award, to Sam Gier, and Coach’s Hat Award, to Destiny Kennedy. Among boys varsity basketball players honored as CCAA III All-Stars were, for Honorable Mention, Zane Lloyd. The team also gave out awards for Above Self Award, which went to Jacob Fyock; Coach’s Award, to David Fera; Most Improved Player, to Aaron Strauss; Most Valuable Player, to Zane Lloyd; and Dunking Award, to Kyle Loretto.
