Village of Hamburg golf outing Aug. 12
The seventh annual village of Hamburg Recreation Departmentís golf tournament will take place on Monday, Aug. 12, beginning with registration scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Gowanda Country Club, located on 2623 Brown St. in Collins. The shotgun start for the team scramble format will begin 11 a.m. The cost for a foursome is $440 and includes 18 holes with a cart, beverages on the course, lunch at the turn, a door prize, framed photo of foursome for each golfer, buffet dinner and dessert, entry in long drive and closest-to-pin contests. The happy hour/championship shootout on hole 18 follows golf, before a buffet dinner ends the day. Dinner-only tickets are available at $25 each. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. They include tee box sponsors for $50, birdie sponsors, $100, eagle sponsors, $200 and hole-in-one sponsors, $500. Jentsch captures HMGC Hall of Fame title
Chris Jentsch earned the Hamburg Menís Golf Clubís Hall of Fame Classic for the 2013 season, following his even-par round of 70. His margin of victory was by one stroke over A-Class rival Joe Williams, while the handicap crown went to Ken Weaver, who shot a net of 67. Other flight champions include, in the B Division, Bob Downey with a 76 and Bob Bleech (net of 64); in the B-2 Division, John Kennedy with an 83 and Roger Flanders (net of 70); and in C-Class, Dan Schaefer with an 84 and Rich Kirchmeyer (net of 65). The most success in the counter-top skins game went to Ken Fierle and Bleech. Up next for the HMGC is the annual 36-hole club championship with Johnathan Snyder, the defending title holder. Last week, Snyder shot a 149 (76 and 73) aggregate, to claim the elite WNY Public Links Class A Championship at the Sheridan Golf Course. An eagle on the 520-yard 17th hole helped provide Snyder with the two-stroke victory.
Hamburg Womenís Golf Club results
Top finishers from the Hamburg Womenís Golf Clubís Least Putts Tournament on July 25 were Gretchen Anzinger first, with a 14 and Patty Blake (14) in Class A; Carol Wahlenmayer was first, with a 14 and Sue Kuss (15) in Class B; Linda Rayburg was first, with a 16 and Mary Collins (16) in Class C; and Christina Haggerty first, 15, and Nancy Burke (16).

Top finishers from the Hamburg Menís Golf ď65Ē Clubís Week 12 Medal Play included Steve Dearth in first, with a net of 63, followed by Joe Scott (64), Rick Suto (65) and Jeff Smith (67) in Class A; Gene Stancin in first, with a net of 67, followed by Joe Kubik (68), Charley Brown (68) and Paul Nelson (69) in Class B; and Jake Ferro in first, with a net of 67, followed by Del Jackson (68), Dan Kuczmarski (68) and Matt Forrest (69) in Class C.
Gowanda C.C. Ladies League results
Top finishers from the Gowanda Country Club Ladies League play on July 24 were, for low gross: Kim Geir in the top spot with a 42, followed by Joyce Bigelow (44), Tina Fracella (49) and Jan Parker (49); for low net, Trudy Jackson in the top spot, with a 34, followed by Cheryl Murphy (35), Dawn Zopp (36), Andrea Parshall (39) and Donna Colletta (39).
