Hamburg’s Iafallo signs with Ohio St. for hockey

GOING TO OHIO STATE — Juliana Iafallo (standing left) celebrates her letter of intent signing to play women’s hockey with Ohio State, along with classmates Margaret Janiga, who’s beside her, and from left, first row: Madison Sansone, Annika Zalewski, Alli Gasuik and Greg White.
On Nov. 18, Nichols School senior and Hamburg resident, Julianna Iafallo, signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I at Ohio State University next year.

“Julianna has been dominating as a player her entire career while excelling in the classroom as well. She is a player who makes other players around her better,” said Scott Welch, the girls varsity hockey coach at the independent, coeducational, college preparatory school. “She is quiet by nature, but lets her actions do her talking.”

Iafallo will bring to Ohio State her versatility, as she’s switched between playing center and wing. Over the last two years, she has accumulated 40 goals and 35 assists for 75 points.

She won seven New York State championships and appeared in two national championship games. She is also recognized by USA Hockey as a top performer at her age level as she has been selected to attend USA Hockey National Camps.
