Mastrangelo’s three goals leads Monarchs U-12 to win

Gabe Mastrangelo booted home a hat trick to lead the Hamburg Monarchs Black 12-and-under boys team to a 7-1 victory over the visiting Clarence Inferno on June 22 at the Nike Soccer Complex. The Monarchs received goals from five different players en route to the teams’ eighth victory of the 2013 season.
Mastrangelo scored his first goal in the match’s 4th minute off a feed by Isaiah O’Connor for an early Hamburg lead. Josh Kacalski upped the score to 2-0 off a well-played assist by Kyle Ingraham. In the final minute of the first half, Anthony Tuber found Kacalski, who slotted a pass on the flank right to Jonah Kozak, who gave Hamburg a 3-0 advantage after one half of play.
Hamburg’s defense was strengthened by the play of Nick Sobczak and Will McGowan. Jared Rasinski continued his growth as a midfield player creating numerous opportunities all game. Mastrangelo’s second came off a rebound of an Ingraham chance to increase the Monarchs’ advantage to 4-0. Seth Heeter popped in an upper shelf goal from 23 yards out off a pass by Michael Lange to make it 5-0. Matt Clifford ripped home Hamburg’s sixth tally, before Clarence scored their only tally of the game. Mastrangelo completed his treble in the 68th minute.
Andrew Lauria notched another win in net making some acrobatic saves along the way. The Monarchs will play in the Lancaster-Depew Soccer Club tournament this weekend before ending the regular season with a home contest against the Amherst Galaxy on July 29 at the Nike Base.
