Turkey bowl coed touch football Nov. 16
The town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services will host the Woodlawn Beach Turkey Bowl Coed Touch Football Tournament at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 and assist the 2013 Western New York Holiday Partnership collection of new, unwrapped toys. Teams will consist of a maximum of 10 players each and must include a minimum of two females. The cost per team will include T-shirts for all participants and food and beverages. The department has asked that all players bring a toy. Skate Great offerings at Hamburg Town Arena
Session II of Learn to Skate with Skate Great Inc. and Rising Stars, an introduction to figure skating, will begin Dec. 4 at the Town of Hamburg Ice Arena at 2982 Lakeview Road in Hamburg. Learn to Skate is offered in both 5 and 6 p.m. sessions Wednesdays for eight weeks and 10 – 10:45 a.m. Thursdays for eight weeks, concluding Feb. 5 and 6. The lessons are offered for ages 3 and older; teens and adults may participate. Helmets are required. Parents who take lessons at the same time as their child will be eligible to pay a discounted rate. Rising Stars will be Wednesdays for eight weeks from 4:15 – 5 p.m., until Feb. 4. The class is for anyone who has attained basic Learn to Skate skills. Helmets are required for those 14 and younger. In addition to program cost, participants must pay a once annual USFSA fee. Hamburg Monarchs offer indoor soccer program
The Hamburg Monarchs House League is accepting registration for a 10-week recreational indoor coed program for boys and girls ages 3 – 10. Age groups are determined by the age of a child on the first day of the session. The U-4 (for ages 3 – 4) starts Friday, Nov. 15 or Monday, Nov. 18; U-6 (for ages 5 – 6), Nov., 15, 18 or Tuesday, Nov. 19; U-8 (for ages 7 – 8), Nov. 15, 19 or Wednesday, Nov. 20; and U-10 (for ages 9 – 10), Nov 20. Hamburg Ski/Snowboard Club offers discount
Registration continues for the Youth Ski/Snowboard Club at Kissing Bridge Ski Center through the Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services, with discounted rates for youth ages 9 – 18 who sign up before Nov. 15. Those who register before Nov. 1 will also be eligible for discounted lift tickets for any day of the week, from the start of the Kissing Bridge season until Dec. 31. Club members will meet for eight Saturday mornings, from Jan. 4 – Feb. 22, at the village of Hamburg Youth Center on 200 Prospect Ave. Buses will depart at 8:30 a.m. to Kissing Bridge and leave for return at 3:30 p.m. Town of Hamburg chaperones will be on the bus and on-site at Kissing Bridge, at all times. Equipment for skiing and snowboarding will be available for rental. Skate programs to begin season at Hamburg Arena
The Town of Hamburg Ice Arena has opened its fall-winter season and the Recreation Department is accepting registration for its Skate Great Learn-to-Skate and Beginner Hockey programs held in three sessions starting Dec. 4 and Feb. 12 for boys and girls ages 3 through adult. Register by mail, online or at the Town of Hamburg Recreation Office, 2982 Lakeview Road, Hamburg, NY 14075. The Town Arena is located nearby. Ice time is also available at the Town Arena through the town’s Skate & Shoot program for adults 18 and older and for youth ages 6-9, 10-13 and 14-17. Public Skate is scheduled Tuesdays through Fridays at 11 a.m.-12:50 p.m. and Friday from 8-9:50 p.m. (beginning Oct. 11) and Sunday from 2-3:50 p.m. (beginning Oct. 13). Swimming programs to be held at Frontier H.S.
The Town of Hamburg has announced four upcoming recreational, family and adaptive swimming programs at Frontier High School for Town of Hamburg residents. Classes extend through the spring session, ending at the end of March. Family Swim, Open Recreational Swim and Lap Swim are geared toward youth and families, and Adaptive Swim is a recreational swimming program for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. All sessions have certified lifeguards on duty and are free of charge with the exception of Adaptive Swim. For more information on these programs, call 646-5145.
