College Lacrosse: Hilbert falls to keuka in NEAC final

Hilbert completed its most successful season since moving to Division III status in 2011 and in only its second season in the North Eastern Athletic Conference found itself but ran into a buzzsaw in Keuka College in the conference championship game.
Keuka won its 12th straight game to capture the NEAC league championship with a 17-5 triumph over Hilbert on April 4. Ryan Wagner and Brendan Kane netted twice for Hilbert (10-5), while James Voigt led the Storm with seven points, including five goals, to help Keuka go undefeated against all NEAC competition this year. Hilbert and Keuka were even at 3-3 after the first quarter, but in he second, Keuka put together five goals in a row to begin to pull away. Keuka also scored seven times on the man-up, five of which came in the second half. Aaron Romanowski was credited with the Hawks’ final score of the game. William Wagner stopped 12 shots between the pipes for Hilbert.
Hilbert advanced to the championship game after they battled to a 20-17 semifinal victory over Medaille College under the lights at All-High Stadium May 1. The Hawks captured their first win over Medaille this season after dropping a 20-19 sudden-death overtime loss one week ago.
John Pingitore came through in a big way for Hilbert leading the Hawks with six goals and three assists, after missing the regular season game April 23 between the two due to illness. Ryan Wagner added four goals and won 13 face-offs, along with grabbing a team-leading six ground balls. Kane contributed three tallies, while William Wagner made six saves in net.
