As the Hilbert College women’s soccer team prepares for the 2013 women’s soccer season, one thing is certain — Kelly Starchok, in her third season with the program, has helped to add passion to the program.

The Hawks return four seniors, two of whom suffered season ending injuries earlier in their career. Robbi Bailey and Sarah Schmidt look to end their soccer careers on high notes after each rehabbed an ACL injury — Baily’s was in 2011 and Schmidt, the next season. They, along with Amber Bailey, will finish their four-year career in November with expectations of carrying the Lady Hawks back into the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference playoffs.

Joining senior Mary Mabon again on defense will be junior Beana Cline and sophomore Caitlyn Taruiello. Also providing support in front of the frame will be first-year players Julianne Spring, Chelsea Olson, Taylor Willett and Lauren Bugaj. Schmidt, Amber Bailey and sophomores Sara Wagner and Kaitlyn Layman return in the midfield. They, along with Courtney Vaccaro, Jackie Morgan and Barrett Armstrong will battle for ball possession. The Hawks expect Robbi Bailey and junior Megan Van Norman, along with sophomore Ariana Scheidt and freshmen Imarie Waller and Amanda Weiner, to get some looks at the net. Sophomore Erin Smith and freshman Grace Adams will compete for time in goal.

After opening the season at Oberlin University on Sept. 2, Hilbert will host Alfred University on Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. The Hawks’ other non-conference opponents are hosting Cazenovia on Sept. 10, at Hiram on Sept. 14 and Thiel on Sept. 19 and hosting Alfred State on Sept. 21 and Wells on Sept 25. They begin their AMCC schedule the last weekend of September and squeeze in the nine league games before the AMCC playoffs begin Nov. 2. Senior Day will be against Penn State Altoona on Oct. 19 at 3 p.m.
